Haphazardly using Exclamation points

Wait! Hold on! HOLD IT!!! I lost my number two spot???? You have got to be kidding!! After game one I was moaning about how terrible I played and I was told quote: “You were number two behind Jared!” Were you lying to me??? So I have to ask: What happened??? Did I suddenly go back in time and play worse??? Whose feelings are you sparing??? I need an answer! “My time has come” for an answer!!!!

Anyways...let me ask another question: How many goals did Nick have in the first two months of this past season in Saugus?

He had zero. Zilch. Zip. Nada. Nothing. I went two months without a goal…two months!!

Keep that mind as we recap Game Two of the “Tourney”.

Game Two: Another undeserved Win

> I would like to impugn our “struggles” in this game and this tournament to one person (or two, or three, or….) but I hold back because for whatever reason we kept on winning. When I finally recap our first loss of the tournament, I will start the blame game. Believe me, I will.

As the second game started it looked like we were going to be pounded. They were out hustling us. They were not making blind passes. They were the absolute definition of a team. It wasn’t looking good. We deserved a loss. But our goalie played out of his mind. He was fantastic. He was making insane stops. He was absolutely amazing. It was a borderline unbelievable performance. After all, he is the better Driscoll. What else should we expect?

Nick started the scoring in game two with what some of his teammates called “the best shot of his career.” It was a perfect “slap shot” to the top left corner of the net. The goalie had no chance. 1-0 Alliance. This shot set the rest of the team in motion. We got contributions from Brendon, Mike and Johnny creating a 5-0 lead over the Wolf Pack. (did you notice a name missing? No, I’m not talking about Brett)

But, in the second half, after intermission, our team came back to being terrible. We stopped playing over our heads. We fell back to reality (Oh there goes gravity!-Did anyone else start rapping?). In the second half, the wolf pack began to run circles around us and instead of adjusting we decided to hold down. Sit on the lead. For 15 minutes. Think about that: 15 minutes. Is that possible? We kept icing for 15 minutes. Can I stress that anymore? Does that show any confidence? We managed to hold down our lead and score two more goals (including another goal by Nick) but we knew this team was good. We knew that if we faced them in the play-offs, they could beat us. Without an amazing performance by Brett we were going to be toast. But there we stood undefeated heading into our third and final game of Saturday.

Tomorrow: Game Three-An improbable ending…another win.

i didn't think you could top game 1's recap nick, but you may have, histerical. (it's 'our' not 'are' by the way). it was way too hot that game too, and dilluted warm powerade was not helping.

Thanks....I appreciate the appreciation.

My grammatical error has been fixed...thanks for pointing it out. I re-read the post a few times, and i missed it. I guess that’s why real writers have editors.

I have now refreshed the page 22 times hoping the power rankings would be up. Sigh...

Game 2: A Promise is a Promise

Nick, Brett said you were 2nd in game 1, not me. We have two totally different opinions

3 Brendon - This is the only game and ranking i could possibly fit him in due to the fact that Jared disapeared and JR was kept in check for most of the game. He's here just cause no one else deserved it that much more. And he only blew his assignment twice this game.

2 Nick - But you were second this game. You were the only thing that resembled a puck moving defenseman. And your goal was beautiful.(brett showed me the video) Your poise on defense was that of a top notch player. And you never got beaten. There's no doubt your team had confidence in you after your performance in game 2.

1 Brett - Jared do you remember when Brett told you that this was the game he would steal for you guys? Let your yes mean yes. Brett faced close to, if not more than, 30 shots in 30 minutes from every spot on the rink possible. His most notable one coming on a penalty shot where he flashed out his glove while falling back, to snatch the ball from going in the top corner.

And brendon please don't write a long post on how you did in game two. Just be happy with the third spot. It's all a joke anyway..... except for brett and nick. They deserve their spots.

But really you do deserve the 3 spot for game two.

i want a skills game recap as well nick.

poll question, favorite brendon quote...

1) preface...we're about to enter our ever important playoff game minutes before faceoff everyone is getting ready when we hear "I really don't care if we win or not as long as no one gets injured"

2) preface...round 2 we're going in as heavy underdogs trying to get amped up for a game when we hear "i don't even want to play another game cuz i'm ruining my stick"

3) preface...brendon commits another hipcheck penalty when he walks over to the ref and we hear "ya but i got slashed earlier"

"i want a skills game recap as well nick."

according to the play on site, the trick shot contest was a huge sucess, i'm an international star!

LOL! Thats hilarious! He actually got them to fight with each other?

i'm gonna go withb quote #1.

It still bothers me that he said that and we've been home for four days.

Those who play safe get hurt the most.

Brendon you realize you walked right into what Brett wanted you to do

he baited you into defending yourself when you really didn't have to

he wanted controversy on the site and knew the easiest way to get was poke at you

why do you think WPR aka-brett asked you not to put a long post on?
Because he was baiting you to do it and when you didn't he did this

Brett said...

I'm gonna be the bigger man here and just let this one slide instead of just burying you by pointing out everything you did wrong at the tournament. Whether it be what you said or did.

I'll leave that to nick when he writes his recaps.

Brett said...

Mr. annonymous. That was the old me. now i'm all grown up with a kid in the very near future. But that's not saying i'll never lose control ever again.

Brett said...

you sound like a child complaining about his parents expecting too much of him.

We weren't asking you to become a doctor. We just asked you to cover a guy.

Ugh!! now i'm being sucked back in. I have no self-control.

i was perfect in the tournament

Here is a list of things that each person did wrong so that Brendon doesn't feel singled out.

Mike D - Did steroids and won't admit it (Ortiz).

Nick - Tried shooting it up the boards when there were no boards.

Brett - Got scored on from the other side of the rink. PAY ATTENTION!!!

Jared - Not strong enough to clear it up the middle. And needs to work on his trick shots.

JR - Anything less than 100% on penalty shots is unacceptable. Therefore you are unacceptable. Suagus doesn’t translate to tournaments. Leading scorer?

Brendon - ..... enough said

this would be a great time to transition to a game 3 recap, NICK WHERE ARE YOU!!!????

Brett said...

i think it's just the opposite. Everyone knows when they do something right (like score a goal). But not everyone knows how to correct the things they're doing wrong.

Brendon i know you go by the "attract more bees with honey than vinegar" theory. But do you think that coaches just focus on the good things and make it all rainbows and lollypops for everyone? And yes i know it's just for fun and not to take it too seriously.

I know you left for vacation (Ben & Jerry's again?). But i want you to say everything you did wrong to see if you really do know when you do things the wrong way. And then explain how you would fix it

Brett said...

and Johnny, thanks for making the draft start exactly when i have to go to work.

Nick said...

"Nick - Tried shooting it up the boards when there were no boards."

i did that once...I was aiming for the fence but it disappeared suddenly! lol

"I'll leave that to nick when he writes his recaps."

I think you will like Game 3's recap than.

Mike D said...

It's great that the only thing Brett can say about me is that I do steroids (which I don't!!), but haven't admitted it yet..haha

Nick, recaps have been great

Sorry Brett,

I wanted to change the time and Yahoo wanted let me!
