Where We Belong
10 Andrew – Played a good game even though the hands aren’t quite there yet but he used his speed on the dump and chase and abused the dark team’s defense. I’ve never seen someone use the dump and chase as effective as he did.
9 Elliot – Really the same as Andrew because I still don’t know which one is which, but somehow Elliot was a little bit better than Andrew.
8 Billy T – Really didn’t play to his capabilities. That is all.
7 Mike W – His camera work was shaky but he more than made up for it with his shut down defense and that deke on the breakaway to get Jack to move laterally….a thing of beauty.
6 Johnny – Not getting back like he used to, Johnny got those tough angle goals and took his patented 20 minute sub after game 1. His wrap around goal was just unstoppable even with the defense and goalie in position.
5 Mike D – Will this kid make up his mind about which position he’s going to dominate? Defense? Offense? Pick one! His offensive prowess and ability to be in the right place at the right time allowed him to score a bunch of goals. If we start playing every week in Saugus, he’s only going to get better and better.
4 JB – Penalty shot goals are some of the rarest form of goals scored in Saugus, along with good goals. Even after Jared coached up Rick, JB was still able to bury the penalty shot going 5-hole. His ability to sneak up on the defense like a cat burglar was impressive.
3 Brendon – Nothing was going to stop Brendon from playing in the first Saugus game in months. Not even a gruesome, self-inflicted, slow developing hamstring and acl tear. The amount of hockey tape use to treat the injury is uncertain, but wolverine was able to heal 100% in 3 minutes, without even a sign of a limp, and never missed a shift. Brendon made Ariel never want to play any form of hockey ever again after the juke he put on her and went in for a beautiful goal on a top notch goalie, something he can and will be proud of for years to come.
2 Brett – D-D passing was a sight for sore eyes and Brett and Mike W executed it to perfection.(Brett did, Mike not so much). Brett’s 100 foot passes up the middle to a streaking teammate was a regular occurrence all night and his reprimanding of Gabe on the bench was a highlight.
1 Jared – Started the stats season off the right way, by picking a highly questionable roster. That roster ended up torching the dark team’s defense in games 1, 2 and 5. Jared led the way with goals and assists and with making Nick panic more than usual by merely using words and accusations.
