Hockey This Sunday 6-8 (Outside)
Let me know who is in. Unfortunately they only had the inside rink from 9-11 or 5-7. 5-7 could be a possibility, but our meeting runs until 4:15 so we would not probably get there until 5:15 or so. It would not necessarily be a problem if the rink was open, goalies suited up, and the money was collected for the rink, but it seems too tight of a timeslot. So, prepare for the cold and ice of the outside rink!
In: John, Jack (G), Cindy, Nick, Billy T, Mike D, Jared, Mike W, Elliot, Andrew, Mike M (G?), John P
Still waiting to hear from: Steve, Joe, Brendon, JB, Griff, Austin
Probably (53%): Brett

Weekly Power Ranings
2-23-14
9 Joe – Jared can say Joe’s a liability all he wants but
it doesn’t make it true. Plus he was ahead of the curve and left early before
things got really ugly for team white,
Hit List
10 Brendon – Yelling at Cindy to not touch the ball while
he himself was incapable of doing anything productive with it was embarrassing.
Leaving Frendon off the rankings wouldn’t speak loudly enough as to how bad he
was. Not to mention the fact that he thought it was ok to alter the precious Haverhill
Cup. Who’s ever left off the rankings, be assured you were better than Frendon.
8 Billy T – I’m going to blame all the times he got beat
on being cautious of the slippery floor.
7 Nick – Hate to think where he would’ve ranked if that
blockbuster trade never happened.
6 Borges – Who puts Brendon back on D? I’m blaming Borges.
I’m going to say Jared talked Borges into abandoning defense and to just go for
stats.
5 Johnny – Back to his old sniping ways.
4 Mike W – Didn’t let the awful floor stop him from
running recklessly. He and Brett looked good together. Mike really knows how to
move without the puck. He’s never standing still.
3 Jared – Duped Nick in the draft, but Jared just can’t
stand prosperity and traded himself, sending what would have been another
winning week down the tubes. Goals were there as always.
2 Brett – There’s nothing better than the feeling you get
from setting people up for tap in goals. Or so I’ve heard. Watching him set up
Eric and Mike D for goals in the Haverhill Cup is going to be a treat. A real
treat!
1 Mike D – Safe to say it was his best game in years,
maybe even ever, despite who he was shooting on. Picking corners, winning
battles and being in the right place at the right time. Yet a part of me thinks
Mike got the top spot, hoping that he’d put the safety back on.

I Think Brendon Stole It
From the offices of Big Board comes the much anticipated Haverhill Cup team draft preview.
4. Team Johnny- Tough to even call this collection of misfits a team. With Nick showing his true colors like Cyndi Lauper last week, it's evident that when the going gets tough, Nick does not get going. The grind of the long Saugus season has taken it's toll on the Prater boys as well, BB has seen a significant drop off in their play. Elliot's flipping out on 1st time players who don't understand our made up offsides rule that doesn't make sense. Johnny will be the best back up goalie there, so that's something to not be excited about when Darrin has an emotional breakdown from facing 300 shots a game and listening to Johnny yell at Andrew to get back and cover for him. Offense: D- Defense: B- Goalie: B+
Bottom Line: They may squeeze out 1 regular season win but a first round exit.
3. Team Brett- The more this team is analyzed the more dysfunctional it is. Brett and Eric will wreak havoc in the offensive zone, but I question the finishing skills. Their only real chance of going far is if Brett drops back to defense. Joe and MikeD will get picked apart back there, and Tony will be there to make sure those few good defensive plays they make will be worthless. Brett needs a trade. Offense: A- Defense: C- Goalie: D
Bottom Line: They need the #1 seed, if not JB's team sees them out in the first round.
2. Team JB- Close call for the number 1 spot, but it's tough to overlook Jack in net. Jack is an above average goalie in Saugus. But dealing with quality shooters in an all day tournament is going to be way too much for him to handle. They have the best overall players but they are not built to come back. JB and Griff will no doubt ruin a lot of player's time (mainly the Prater boys and Jared) which will be fun. Brian's tournament experience is not to be overlooked. Offense: C Defense: B+ Goalie: C-
Bottom Line: Avoid them in round 1 of playoffs, but endurance all the way to a finals win will be tough
1. Team Jared- They may not have a true defenseman, but Jared will have no problem demoting someone to play that meaningless position. Ron will most likely handle the position. This team should be able to keep up in scoring with Brett's team, while having a much better goalie in net. Let's not forget a tournament best 3 former champions. JB's team will provide high powered clash in the finals, but I can't imagine Ron not being able to average a goal per minute against Jack. Oh, and Reggie won't be playing. Offense: B+ Defense: C- Goalie: B
Bottom Line: They back their way into a Haverhill cup victory, unless Jared blows it by making a ton of needless trades.

Moving On
These are some possible replacements for the lost, but never forgotten, Haverhill Cup.
The cup needs to have a place for the separate years and names of the winners. Both of these have that.
Have You Seen Me?
Was last seen in Saugus on February 16th at Hockeytown. The cup is about 3 inches tall and has the names Brett, Nick, Brendon, Billy T, Jimmy C, Bobby, Scott, Mike W and Brian written on it. Those names and only those names. Please contact Brett 781-710-8266 at any hour of the day. Due to the pricelessness of the cup, it'd be hard to come up with a dollar amount for the reward so there just wont be any.

Weekly Power Rankings
Sliding On By
2-7-14
5 Jack - Made the already favorite team in the Haverhill Cup even more... favorited?
4 Austin - Such a pest. A pest without the attitude of Andrew/Elliot.(whichever one celebrates after his 1 goal a week)
3 Brett - Something was different about Brett. He looked like a 23 year old again running around out there, that is until Brendon butt checked him and put him in his place.
2 Borges - Shouldn't have given Johnny the option to pick his team, but he did perform nevertheless. Strangely there were very few points scored on the night.
1 Johnny - That is except for Johnny who lit up the score sheet, slipping and sliding by the defense all night. Johnny gets the top spot for not yelling at Cindy all night.
Honorable Mention: Brendon - Continues to let his play and general existance justify Brett for not inviting him to the Haverhill Cup. Just to clear up a misconception, playing in Saugus doesnt get you invited, being socially acceptable does.
