2017 H.C. POWER RANKINGS

24 comments:
It's All About The Auction

20 Brendon - Didn't provide as much offense as JB had hoped for. Just 1 goal in the playoffs would have been the difference. Getting a shot off in the shoot out would have been nice, especially after Brett specifically said "make sure you at least get a shot", he just didn't have it in him.

19 Demaio - Neither did Mike.

18 Fichera - Still just a "raw talent". I mean like "just killed the cow raw". I mean like "just killed the cow raw, but the cow was pretty sickly so we don't even know if we can use the meat from its diseased body" raw. Had a goal in the playoffs.

17 Ward - What could he have done differently on that penalty shot?

16 Melo - He turned up his play come playoff time and did a decent job as Ron and Scott and Iggy were teeing off from everywhere.

15 Iggy - When I think Iggy, I think Claude Lemieux. A player who latches on to the powerhouse team and takes all the credit when they win.

14 Jeremy - He knows how to play hockey, but he was just too tentative. Nothing like he was down in Florida year 1. Remember that one handed goal he scored in Florida that didn't count? That was awesome.

13 Zack - He actually played pretty well with Jared and if they had a healthy Ward, I think they could have done some damage on Saturday. His shot is much improved from his rookie Haverhill Cup year and you can't put a price on someone who cares way too much about the game.

12 Johnny - Didn't really have to do much except stay in the net. He's like Cory Crawford. He plays pretty well but doesn't get much credit because he has a great team around him.

11 Joe - That one shift where he blocked 4 shots in a row from the same person was pretty funny to watch and sums up joes value to a team. He'll jump into the play as well to provide some offensive pop. The more I look at Jared's team the more I think they could've gone to the finals if they had a full roster. Teams with only 4 players have never won a game in the HC playoffs.

10 Billy - A lot was riding on Billy's play this year. With Borges being the only offense, Billy was going to have to be a shut down defenseman and he was. He blocked shots, broke up odd man rushes and kept the play going forward.

9 Brett - He was the better goalie against 95 percent of the players. But as soon Griff got the ball, you could actually hear and smell him lose control of his bowels.

8 Dave - The day was just too long for Dave, not to mention that Brett wouldn't share his granola bar with him. So that made Dave tired and hungry. Not a good combination.

7 Griff - How many more tricks can he possibly pull out of his bag? I think griff had 50 percent of the goals scored on Brett. Not a bad day for the worst day of the year.

6 Jared - The finals just aren't the same without Jared in them. Someone to really root against. There's no denying he gave it all he had. It just wasn't even close to being enough. He did get to watch more of the bruins game than anyone else.

5 Drew - It was a crime how cheap drew went for in the auction. A gross miscalculation of his worth by 3 of the 4 captains. That goal where he picked the corner glove side on Dave was a thing of beauty.

4 JB - I think it was the giant Italian sub from the gas station that ultimately did him in.

3 Nick - Too much defense doesn't win in the HC. You can never have enough offense.

2 Scott - Was a perfect compliment to ron. Played great defensively and that game winner vs Jared's team was clutch with only seconds remaining. Again, grossly undervalued by the other 3 captains in the auction.

1 Ron - What's left to say? This living legend continues to beat the odds in a young mans game. He says he's done, but that would be a shame if he left before winning his 5th cup and becoming the first dynasty in HC history. Yes you need to win 5 in a row to be a dynasty. It would also be a shame because we wouldn't have enough players to play next year if he doesn't.

RULES

All the usual penalties from ice hockey, not dumb dek hockey rules. Being an idiot to the ref with stupid comments or complaining can be called at refs discretion as unsportsmanlike conduct. All penalties result in penalty shot. Although in the future, power plays could be introduced. All cover ups by goalie results in his team getting the ball behind the net with 3 seconds to make a free play. After a goal a team must return to their own half and wait 5 seconds to forecheck or till the other team crosses half court. 6 minute halves for all games. Everyone must be willing to video tape. It's a rule. I'm sure I'm forgetting something but just remind me at the rink and I'll let everyone know.

What happened to the MVP poll?
