Pouting is Such Sweet Sorrow

Since Nick is officially retired, it looks like the job of writing recaps will now fall to someone else. (Hey, I'm "someone else!")
Not that Nick actaully ever wrote any recaps...at least not any that I can think of...moving on...

This week's recap will be fact-or-fiction style! On we go!

For those of us who were there last night, we know what the real facts were and we will also know what the fictitious parts are.
But for those that were sadly missing, they'll never know, so that's just too bad...

One a night that was free from agressive slashing, name-calling, and (coincidentally) also missing Griff, we found out what were missing, with Nick being out of the lineup: Fun.

With no one to trip him up, Jared scored a record-high 25 points last night in the six total games we played. It was all offense. Four unassisted goals in the first two games alone. Breakaway after breakaway...

Amazingly, Pete the Meat scored a hat trick in the first game and followed it up with a three-assist second game, too.

Billy scored a blazing game-winner on a 3-on-3 lineup when the game was called into overtime.

Johnny started off hot and then cooled down as his back gave out on him. But he rallied to lead the team to the game 6 win, giving the white team the victory.

Jason was tripped up on a breakaway, but he got up, shook hands with the person that tripped him, and maturely controlled his temper and forgave him for the obvious mistake.

Oh, and Jared was whining even though he scored a lot, again.

Brett stood on his head for parts of game 2, shutting down would-be threats on wide open across-the-crease passes, but then, he had enough and wanted in on the action, so he grabbed Billy's stick out of his hands and charged up the court in full goalie gear, juked everyone and scored on Dave in an unprecedented play!

Johnny had a play in game 2 where he popped it up and Frendon reached out across the crease and picked it out of mid-air and over Dave's shoulder (but below the crossbar, yes, below).

Jason made an extremely sweet pass across the crease to a wide-open Johnny who buried it. Looked like Bergeron to Marchand. Jason also followed that up with back-to-back goals in game 2. Impressive.

Ward made some plays of his own, including some stellar defensive rushes where he jumped up on O and scored back-to-back unassisted goals. What a night for offense!

Oh, and Jared whined some more. (I'll bet you think that this part is fiction, don't you?)

All in all it was a great night. Too bad some people had more important things to do. Oh well, there's always the Haver....Nevermind.

P.S. No hockey next week.

Jared's List Grows

Combined 1 legit Goal

That should have been the story coming out of Saturday.

The story should have been about the underdog Cinderella white team

We should have been talking about how Brett played great in goal

I wish we were talking about how the game winner in game one was scored because a winger lost track of his defensive responsibility

Id much rather be recapping about Jared’s lack of subbing. Jason payed just as much you.

Borges scoring 4 goals was kind of interesting I guess.

We could be talking about Griff’s Haverhill Cup stock. Billy or Griff? What a debate we could be having.

Instead its all about the drama.

Its all about Jared, in a play he wasn’t even involved in. Not that he was involved in many plays, he didn’t score all day.

Jared got zero goals.

The reality is the entire reason that goal was held up was because of that frustration.

That and I probably hit him in the foot a couple times over the last 10 years.

The two hand slash really wasn’t a big deal.  Honestly, whatever.
The issue was the defense and the pushing for the goal to be held up. That was insanity. I still cant wrap my head around it. It was indefensible.

I came away yesterday feeling that people don’t want to play against me. They think Im dirty. That Im a hack. And Im uncontrolled with my stick sweep. If you don’t know what Im talking about just ask Jared for an accurate demonstration. It looks spot on. He really is the next Frank Caliendo.

I dont want to be that guy. I don’t want to be dirty. I don’t want to be a hack. But Im definitely not going to change. A leopard can't change spots and all that crap.

It leaves me one choice. Im retiring from Saugus. People are clearly uncomfortable playing with me. Which has made me uncomfortable.

I had a good run but its now over. The 42 goal season in 2009 will always be suspicious.

Boxscore for 3/11/18

I forget how we are counting the unfinished games. John might do things differently than me. I put them in as points for each player but do not raise the games played, giving players a slight boost on points per game.

Similarly, I put the goals against each goalie without raising the games played, giving them a slightly worse GAA. But since everything is the same for everyone, it shouldn't really affect the numbers too much across the board, when you do comparisons.

So for last Sunday, we had 2 total games played and one unfinished game with a score of 4-1. I'm sure John will do something different when he enters them into his DB, but that won't be until 2042 and by then, we will have all forgotten that we even used to play hockey, so it's a moot point.

Switching gears.......Nor'Easter. Maybe one or more of you guys have a day off? Who feels like writing a recap? Somebody should do that once in a while. This website name is a farce. On we go...
