So much change and yet, so little
10 Brendon - I swear it's just a hologram of Brendon out there replaying the same mistakes every week that he's made for the past 15 years. They brought MJ back via hologram. It's possible.
9 Billy T - Channeled his inner Jared and made everyone get their pads back on for a terrible game 3.
8 Papa Meat - Seeing him dancing and hopping around the ball between his feet gave me flashbacks to a past Saugus legend.
7 Drew - Drew didn't score as much as his team needed. Which was at least 8 more goals.
6 Andrew - So that's 3 goalies we have for the HC now.
5 Mike Meadows - Gripping the stick too tight for the past 7 years, M2 was snake bitten and the venom had seeped into his brain. Borges had the anti venom. A game 3 that no one really wanted to play in the first place. M2 relentlessly unleashed slap shot after slap shot on an undersized goalie who was playing goalie for the first time. Not only was he rewarded with a couple of goals, BWW wasn't too bad either...(high five)✋️
4 Nick - Jared must have scarred him. Nick use to abandon his D side and double team the dangerous player. But week after week of being double teamed and Jared telling nick that was the wrong way to play defense, finally paid off...for Brett. Nick stayed his lane and made sure to leave Greek 2 to deal with Brett while he himself took away any chance Brett had of completing a pass to Pete.
3 Dave - Once he made that great glove save on teddy (it pained me to write that) he picked up his game and didn't give white team a puncher's chance to win games 2 or 3. I'm sure he enjoyed not having to deal with 90 mph knucklers from half court this week.
2 Borges - Blood sweat and tears. Mostly blood. JB was quick to decide that it was the white teams fault john tweaked his back and so obviously white team should be penalized by losing Elliot and get nothing in return. Not a big deal you say? One might agree with you on any other night. But not this night. On a night where the team scales were so delicately balanced, Elliot tipped them as would a brick of gold.
1 Brett - Might not see mini meat for a few weeks.

Return of the JEBBI
So many storylines for this week...Andrew in net (Yes, ANDREW, not Elliott), concussions, bad backs, a game that almost wasn't played...but the story of the night has to be the return of JB, Elliott and Brett who decided to grace us with their presence finally.
The -- Return of the JEBBI -- if you will. No? Alright fine, YOU come up with something better then. I double dog dare you. Ok, moving on:
The night started with what looked like an unbalanced team on paper, but you know, it almost never shakes out the way that it seems. Of course the first game DID end up going that way, 5-1 in an ugly loss for the Dark team. Brett was awful. I don't even know why he tries. Elliott looked like he picked up right where he left off but probably had a little rust, too. Wait til you get married, kid. The rust will pile up like you won't believe.
Elliott says this might be the only time we see him this side of his wedding date. We'll see. But it won't get much easier afterwards so my advice to you is play the most weeks you can til March cuz we might not see you again til next fall.
Andrew played pretty well for his first time in net at Saugus (he has played elsewhere before), but I couldn't tell if he played well or if my shooting was just that bad....probably a little from column A and a little from column B. Get well Lee. We now have an on-field spotter for CTE. Also JB was there.
Anywhoo...After a game 1 stomping, Johnny decided to (shocker) sit to start game 2. The only problem was he didn't have an ergonomic chair to support him and threw his back out. The old injury bug bites him again. Get well Johnny. We need you to make the games interesting because Jared, JB, Brett and Elliott have less than 0.01% chance of showing up again before the HC.
Speaking of the HC, is the bad back status going to affect the bidding this time around on last year's Haverhill Cup MVP? Hmmmm. Some old Fantasy Football debates are starting to swirl in my head. "He's a year older and more injury prone", "Yeah, but so is so-and-so and he played well last year", "What will you do if you invest all that draft capital and he ends up not playing?"...
Finally some real controversy! And not that made-up Jared-like controversy, either. Speaking of Jared, hope all goes well during your surgery today. I was hoping to be there in your hospital room when you wake up after. You know, to support you and to wave the score sheet in your face as you see how many people passed you in points. That sort of thing.
But I had to work today. Oh well, there's always next year's knee surgery...
So now here's some good news/bad news for everyone. And by everyone I mean everyone that I want to have fun with.
Good News for Jared: Andrew played net so he did not gain any ground in the points race.
Bad News for Jared: Brett started gaining ground on Jared in the points race.
Good News for Jared: Brett will likely only play twice more this year.
Bad News for Jared: Brett can probably pass him in those two games.
Bad News for Andrew: He just volunteered to be a HC Goalie.
Good News for Andrew: He's already the second-ranked HC goalie.
Bad News for everyone: We still need prob two more goalies unless Jack and the New Bedford kid actually play net (doubtful)....
Good News for everyone: There will be another HC Draft this year with auction bidding that is sure to be unpredictable and amazing.
Bad News for everyone: It's a draft full of talent-less bums who can't hit the broad side of a barn.
Good News for everyone: There will be beer. That makes up for all the aforementioned. As Bart Scott says: "CANT WAIT!"

Please take a moment...
Everyone please take a moment to remember someone whom we have recently lost.
Some say he was the greatest player -- ever -- back in his day. But that's debatable.
Some say he was just cocky, and didn't really live up to all the hype.
Some say his number on his jersey meant that he lived his life to the full every day.
Still, some say that he was a rapist, but I refuse to believe that. Those people are just haters and liars. None of that is true.
I say we should all remember him as we knew him best: a Winner. And a Loser, at times. Hey, there's two sides to every coin, let's be fair.
However you choose to remember him, let's just take a moment to reflect on things right now.
I dedicated my efforts in the last game we played on Saturday to his memory...
...By cherry-picking all game long. We'll miss you Jared. Hope that knee surgery doesn't have you laid up for too long...
On we go with some STATS!
