Late controversial trade proves to be difference maker
After suffering a lop sided defeat in game 1, team captains JB and Ron made a trade. They swapped 2 defensive players, the new comer Eric for the seasoned Nick Burton. The trade didn’t provide enough offense as Ron’s team was beaten again, taking on the chin for a game 2 loss.
JB’s stopper on d, Ariel, was blocking shots all nite with No Protective Gear! She gained the respect of all in attendance, however, some players thought she was nuts. Ariel’s mental and physical toughness wowed the fans and players alike. One anonymous fan commented that this will likely lead to a successful and lucrative coaching career.
Inside sources have confirmed that Ariel lobbied for a trade to give her some much needed relief on Defense. There was speculation that Ariel was being slowed down by leg and foot injuries, however, she never missed a shift and continued to play through the pain. The controversial trade was for Brett, Ron’s best defensive player; for JB’s front line centerman, Johnny Riley.
Before Game 3 started, an anonymous player was heard saying more than once, “What… Brett for Johnny”, “this is not going to help us”! Nevertheless the trade occurred and game 3 began. Brett provided his usual fast and aggressive play for his new team; however, it was Johnny’s offensive skills that proved to be the difference maker. The game was won when Johnny fed Ron with a beautiful pass that was blasted in for the game winner. The final score was 5-4.
After suffering defeat in that final game, an anonymous player, from the losing team was heard saying, “trade my team away and what do you expect will happen”. It was an interesting comment because before the game started, there were no such comments heard from the team.
A final point worth noting, Ron’s best offensive weapon, Billy suffered a major hamstring pull in both legs. Billy still managed to show his grit and determination by scoring, using his signature shot, a lightening rocket off the cross bar and in the net.
Yes that controversial trade was expected to be another blowout, for a 3 game sweep! However, it didn’t happen on this night because like its been said many times, games are not played on paper, there won on the field.

i just wanted to add that throughout the first couple games the dark team was not taking responsibility for their poor play. Instead blaming their helpless goalie. Letting up numerous two on ones and break-aways however is a team problem. Notice how when white team lost that final game their was no blame to be past around. First class attitude by white team, a lesson some dark players should take to heart.
is it not dis-heartening when a goalie gives up three goals in a row. . . . . .FROM BEHIND THE NET!!!!
It was a team divided no doubt. with players putting their trust, wrongly in themselves and not in the team. But what can you expect when some players had to play two positions cause some of their teammates weren't efficient enough at their own.
Pretty hard to focus on the task at hand when you're forced to worry about everything else.
Defence couldn't focus on defence when the offence needed so much help. Almost as much help as the other half as the defence.
I'm not one to leave my goalie high and dry, but let's be real, they need to steal a goal or two every now and then.
I know I'll be looking for some redemption come next sunday. . . . and some even teams!!
I'm also sure that it is dis-heartening for a goalie when the defense let's up one break-away/two on one after another. The teams were picked gym class style, both sides had a wide range of players. I think dark team's problems were a direct result of Billy not having his captain jersey, leading to a lack of leadership.
Were there 3 goals from behind the net? I don't remember that.
if the goalie isn't even trying why should anyone else. It's the most important possition in hockey!!
Yes there were a wide range . . . unfortunately dark team got the players on the down side of the range.
Who on the white team had trouble with their possition?
No one because, they were all average or better
The dark team had players that thought they had tallent, when in reality, any coach would have benched them, like you did to warren!!
The three from behind the net weren't a result from bad defence.
Those were the nails in the coffin
Stop having a dogmatic view of the game, team player jared, and look at the game overall, what was the stumbling block that started it all?
You know the true answer, but i know you'll never say it
Brett you are being rediculous. you had you, ron, and billy as a front line. There was only one goal from behind the net and if steve didn't intercept that pass from borges which made it deflect in, then i was standing in front uncovered. Plus you had a very good player in reggie and Nick can play too.
we outshot you team probably by a 3-1 ratio. You didn't bring that shut down defense Ron was expecting when he drafted you.
no there were three. i'm positive
why don't you describe the tallent of our other players on our team.
it's hard to shut down two offencemen at once. which was always the case when i was out there playing with one of the players you failed to mention.
I was not part of the front line, i was defence.
the shot ratio might be acurate. we only got 3 shots off cause the game was over in ten of your shots.
five of ten went in.
i didn't want to trade eric by the way, he wasn't the problem at all.
i have nothing against reggie or nick or even ronnie. i enjoy their play.
you know who i'm talking about.
i don't want a feud, cause i like your playing style too i think you and i have great chemistry. so let's put this behind us and move on.
We'll have plenty more to argue come this sunday, over some frosty brews
i dont like your style of play ! I dont think we have chemistry! and I dont want to end this feud! Im right and your wrong! RABLE!!!!
Jared respects my play? This is a good day...
Nick, he was just trying to be nice :)
