Recap

Lots of stuff to get caught up on from a busy Sunday, so let's get right to the notes.

*Last night consisted of three extremely competitive games, despite Jared having to take over in between the posts. One veteran scout said of Jared's play "How did he even win a game?" Jared somehow managed to allow three backhanded goals to Dale.

*Game One of last night was a 5-4 final, so it needed no more competitive rage between players, but we still managed some fireworks. Brendon knocked Bradley to the ground only to entice Bradley to yell and attempt to orchestrate a "pick" against Brendon, it of course failed.

*Maybe we need to add another stat to the site? No, Johnny don't get too excited. NO more stats! One spectator said of Brendon and Dale "are they going for the record of least amount of passes in a game?"

*Borges gave his all last night while playing with not only a hobbled ankle but also third degree burns across his chest. The same cant be said of Brett and Billy, one veteran player on the dark team said of them "If they cant handle the New England heat, how are they going to handle the heat in Florida?" A phone call saying that you wouldn't be able to make it would have been nice guys or at the very least pick up your phones. One scout said "I question the toughness of these players and I question thier commitment to the team...I hope they prove me wrong."

i had spiritual obligations at eight o clock. not enough time for travel and a shower. sorry for not calling, but no one called me either. Have we grown apart so as to not call each other?

Billy has no excuses except that "it's not fun anymore" and i can see why since he always has the odds stacked against him.

maybe we over-estimate him

is anyone gonna give me the assist i deserve from last weeks last game which was 3-1 not 3-0? which would give Billy an extra goal and take away Tony's shutout

Hey Brett,

Jared said he had talked to you...there was probably some miscommunication along the way.

I can change the scoring of the last game that we had (it would probably on Thur as I have to write a 20 minute talk for Wed night as our meeting got switched). That goal hadn't gotten written down, and to be honest I hadn't remembered you guys scoring against us, so I'll have to take your word on it. Typically I wouldn't take the word of a Habs fan, but I'll make an exception in your case :)

Also, let me know about this Saturday (probably playing around 4 or 5), which would be the last day of the season we do the stats - afterwards everything is being geared towards practicing for Florida.

On a side note, think of a time in the next couple of weeks when we can all meet about FLA...

i'm pioneering this month. so five or six if possible on saturday would be great for me.

I say get it for three hours on saturday if it's gonna be the last game for the season. i could probably scrounge up a few extra players if needed. I predict no passing, and all stat padding for the final game . . . . prediction - 10 unassisted goals in four games

Any time is good with us to talk florida.

I'm pretty sure billy isn't going to florida, or even saugus anymore. he get's mad even when i suggest it, but i'll keep trying.

Did he get upset at anything in particular? Please tell me it wasn't what happened with Dale!

No. he's been saying that it hasn't been fun for a while but he comes cause i ask him to.

The roller blades were a last ditch effort to make it fun for himself. it didn't work.

It's not real fun when you lose all the time due to your team being really bad. it's frustrating. so i understand his thinking

wow. not fun, huh? where exactly would the incredible driscolls have "fun"? the nhl perhaps? give me a break. if you don't like losing...play better, don't let your teammates down by not showing up.

I understand where Billy is coming from. I’ve felt that way a number of times too and that’s not to down other players.

What I think is missing from Saugus is regular lines that are always pitted against each other.

For my Ice Hockey teams, I’ve always put Billy with Scotty F and another playmaker together. Then on the other team, I do the same thing. I always try to keep the same players together so chemistry builds. Billy, Scotty and Gene have become a powerful trio.

So even though those guys have the potential to dominate, I take it as a challenge to match their intensity. The only way I can get better, is going against better players. I’ve been reluctant to pass the dominant player award to anybody, but Billy has, at times, completely dominated the Friday night Ice game.

Ask Billy if playing ice hockey with me on Friday nights hasn’t been a blast? We’ll there was one blast Billy took, from Jack, square in the n?ts… he might not think was too fun.

I think you guys would have benefited more by always putting certain players together. For instance Jared, Johnny and JB against Billy, Brett and Eric every time they were all there. Sprinkle in the other guys and you’ve mostly always got a competitive game.

I personally pick the teams a day or so before the start time. I tell people to let me know either yes or no, In or Out.

That’s my take… probably not even worth 2 cents… and since 2 cents is worthless, I’m not offended it you think my opinion is worthless too.

Ron,

I have absolutely no problem doing that. The problem is, you never know who is going to show up. If people were consistent, or at least stuck to commitments then we can do that (and I'm not picking on anyone in particular, just saying on the whole). As it is I send out emails and have Nick post messages on the board, but unfortunately you kind of have to wait until Sunday because few people respond.

Obviously we only have one, maybe two weeks left before we focus on Florida, but that is something we can start (maybe pick 3/4 people per side to stay consistent and mix everyone else up) provided: 1. people keep in touch as to whether or not they're going and 2. WE START THE GAMES ON TIME!

Brett,

I'll try to get 5:00. I have to be somewhere later that evening, so it'll be tricky, but I'll see what I can do. I won't be able to get it for 3 hours on Saturday because of those plans, but maybe we'll extend the recreational play in Saugus (including the stats) for one more week (the following Sat or Sun) if people want to.

BTW, you score ten goals and you tie the record for one week (although that was set in 5 games)!

is that a challenge john?

Yes, Brett I think it is. Brett, if you want that record, I will pass to you every chance I get.
