Also, Nick has disabled anonymous blogging this year as there were far too many personal attacks going on. If you have a Google account you can use that to sign in, otherwise you'll have to create a Google account to post. Still feel free to debate / argue / critique performances, but without the name-calling that if often degenerated into last year.

Yay for nick.
not only will there be no more anonymous comments, but there will be no more comments at all
Good for you. why don't you instead block all the Marys and Sally from viewing this website
nothing will stop me from demeaning everyone. and you can never say for sure who it is. and if you block this user, it's so easy to come up with another account.
don't be so sensitive ladies, laugh at yourself and your terrible hockey skills
WHO WAS THE WORST IN FLORIDA?
It wasn't JB or Riley. they both had goals and assists to break out of their terrible performance last year.
It wasn't Jared. his four goals led the team.
It wasn't Brett. He was the only D man that was worthy to be playing and added with some offense.
It wasn't the new comers, tony and mike. What can you expect? not much. and that's what they gave you.
That leaves Ryan, Bob, and Dave.
Dave doesn't get a free pass just cause his defense was crappy. horrible decisions by him led to too many goals. not covering the puck, passing it to the other team, not covering the post, standing straight up instead of being ready for a shot. A GAA of around 8.00 says it all. Time to put some responsibility on him
Ryan's intimidation factor didn't pay off like having Reggie would have. His constant penalties and badgering of the ref was quite a site to see. with little or no transition abilities, Ryan turned the ball over many time, unable to get it to his wingers. but none the less he doesn't get my vote. he was the only one back on numerous two on ones.
Which leads me to Bob. his constant pinching in never paid off and led to all those two on ones. He wanted a pass to him every time we got it into the offensive zone. While Ryan"s penalties were at the end of the game mostly, Bob's were costly ones. Ones that would have been easily avoided if he would just play the puck and keep both hands on his stick. Can an old Cat learn new tricks? Like how to play D? Let's hope so, or next years results will likely worsen.
Player most missed
Ron. For leadership and pure skills
put the site back to the way it was. if you get too offended then don't visit the site you morons
You know, it's only truly anonymous if everyone has access to that login and password. If only one or two people are using it, we can figure out who it is. All we have to do is see who you're bashing, and who you're not bashing. Oh, and those lame attempts to "bash" yourself which really aren't very harsh and almost give yourself a backhanded compliment - they aren't fooling anyone, and in fact, they further confirm your identity. Nice try, though. Maybe you can find another board to cry on.
"Ryan's intimidation factor didn't pay off like having Reggie would have."
Is that what we were trying to do? We were trying to intimidate them? How'd that work out? I thought the object of the game was to score goals.
If you're saying that we need to improve on defense rather than offense, then fine. Let's work on that. But don't put it all on them.
Next year we will need more help and hopefully more guys to make commitments. If we could get Ron, Billy, Eric, Scotty, and guys like that to commit, we have a good chance. If we are missing those guys, we will likely have the same experience. You can't expect to win without having a complete roster. I say, let's get some commitments early (like May or June) and get people to pay in advance. That commits you and will keep you from pooping out last minute, unless you get injured or something.

5 Brendan - While every one slams him for having too long of a stick, no play-making skills, no hockey sense, ect. He surely made you all look like fools, getting off to a great start to the 08-09 season with 4 goals, two of them being GAME WINNERS.
4 JB - Looking as nimble as ever, he tried to carry his team through 4 games with 3 goals and 3 assist, with one of his goals being worthy of the highlight real.
3 Brett - Does johnny score any of his goals with out Brett? Hard to say, but with Brett setting up more than half of his goals, you can bet johnny will be looking to have Brett on his team more often then not throughout the rest of this season.
2 Bradly - 3 goals? are you kidding me? this offensive explosion came from a kid who only had 16 goals in over 70 game. Can he keep it up? I don't expect to see him in the top 5 too often never mind #2. Soak it in and enjoy it while it last. Good job.
1 John Riley - It never ceases to amaze me where he gets his goals and how often. 7 goals is a great way to start the season even for JR, leader in goals and point. But what really got me was his 5 assists on the night. He's showing he is able to do it all.
Biggest letdown:
Both goalies (no, not you this week Jared). Even though Steve got a shutout, the goals that went in last night were despicable on both ends. Let's step it up next week guys, no easy point for Riley or Borges.
yes if you can make them let up when going into the corners then they wont beat you to the puck as much. something that was mentioned as Ryan being able to do hopefully. Just bad execution by him and Bob
and the blame was not placed solely on the D.
If you read the whole thing i said the goalie had a big part to do with the nine goals a game.
That's the biggest question for next year and the present. . . Who's our goalie?
Speaking of Florida, Dave actually played pretty well. Was he as good as last year? No, but the lack of practice, and the number of scoring chances we gave up had a lot to do with that.
Looking back at the film, he made a LOT of nice saves. Scarily, the score could have been worse. IMO, it was once the games became lopsided that he let in some soft goals. In those games there might have been a goal or two early on that he might have stopped last year, but ultimately we didn't have much of a chance in those games - the goaltending definitely was not the deciding factor.
That being said, Dave did say it's hard to come in cold to the tournament and play net. He would rather play defense next year and let Tony have a full year of practice and play net.
Ultimately, we have a lot of work to do if we ever want to achieve better results.
i vote that Brendon should help Tony get some direction
