Top 3: There will be a video recap of game 1

3 Dale - I told you he'd be top 5. Dale did get a little shot happy(more than usual) but what do you expect in a 4 on 4. He made Jack work all night. But he did forget to pass to Danny for an easy goal one time, and Danny dropped his stick in discust.(but he was swinging and missing all night so you can't really blame Dale)

2 Nick - It's hard to give anyone on this list real credit for getting points and playing well when only 8 people showed for the night(10 if you count Brett with the camera and danny showed late...well actually 12. Cindy and Dave's wife came too....anyway back to nick). Now that i think about it Nick missed soo many opportunities. He should have had way more points. Brendon should get the #2 spot but i only have one hand(yes i too caught my hand in a saw like Brett but it's only coincidence, nothing more) and i already typed all of this. Plus Brendon doesn't read the post anymore.

1 Johnny - Johnny reclaims his spot at #1 and he better have. He was the best player on the ice and it showed as he factored into 9 out of 11 goals from his team. And he didn't sub all night!!(it's hard to show sarcasm in a blog but be assured there was plenty in that last statement)

Cop out. Where's the #4 and #5 spot? What's next, your power ranking list is only 1 person? No excuses just because there were only 8 people. You could include goalies too. We want to see a 1-5 ranking every time.

if brett got an assist with one hand he should be #1 in ranks

Brett definitely claims a spot with his performance. Forget the assist - the one-handed pass from behind the net was a play most people could not make with two hands.

Plus, he was way more dedicated than Jared who decided a wedding was more important.

johnny you're lucky your goals were against dave, otherwise i'd discredit all of them sunday. That's what i get for skipping hockey. Good for you cleaning house in stats!

if WPR did top 5 brandley may have made the ranks

Then perhaps "brandley" should be up there.

was that a pun? funny. even so, you managed to play hockey with that one hand, and have all this free time now, right?

Report Card is back for another thrilling edition. Not a very exciting week due to the 4 on 4.

Report Card

BLACK TEAM:

The black team put up another winning week with no losses. Johnny finally shot against Dave because clearly Jack is off limits (finally Johnny had to pick someone in his family to play against). Overall nobody played lights out. Tons or chances and missed opportunities.

Offense:

Johnny led the cast of Griff, Nick, Bradley, and Bret (our fourth best player). Griff continuously peppered Dave with shots and Nick missed tons of wide open opportunities. Nick did play good with a huge goal to beat Dave and a monster night. Bradley forgot how to lift the puck and Johnny was, well, Johnny was Johnny. Grade B

Defense:

Let’s face it our best defense was a good offense. There was no real defense after the first 5 minutes. Dale riddled our goalie and Nick played good D considering the amount of open space. Bret made some key stops as well as we all held our breath. Play of the night (hopefully on tape) is when Brendon completely undresses Johnny and scores. Johnny was very demoralized. Bradley and Cindy played about equal. Grade C

Goaltending:

Jack played above average especially considering the amount of shots faced. Dale continuously challenged Jack with Jack being the victor. No soft goals this night. Grade B+

Overall B-

WHITE TEAM

Let’s just say the white team expected more. Not the greatest morale on this team. Constant bickering between Brendon and Lee & Dale and Mike caused the morale to go out the window. Lee eventually threw a patented Lee temper tantrum and will not be returning to hockey. The best part is when he tried to leave by throwing his stick outside but couldn’t because the door wouldn’t open. Very funny while he awkwardly struggled opening the door after the tantrum.

Offense:

The white team didn’t lose from a lack of shots or arguing. Jack faced plenty of shots and made just as many saves. Dale put forth the best effort while Mike faded into the background although he played tough D. Brendon cherry picked all night contributing to Lee’s frustration. Overall a decent performance but could have had more if they played as a team. Grade C-

Defense:

Lee, Dale and Mike played decent defense. Couldn’t blame them in 4 on 4 for the amount of goals. Although you would have thought there would be more goals. Brendon didn’t show up defensibly (similar to Phil Kessel in the playoffs when he was benched). Any who, not bad considering and Dave made them look above average. Grade C-

Goaltending:

Dave played another phenomenal couple of games. He made save after save. He might have made 100 saves. The black team eventually wore Dave down and won both games. Grade B+

Overall: C

Arguing:

The white team really factored in on this stat. With no Jared the arguing didn’t skip a beat. Dale argued against a delay of game, Brendon and Lee argued about clearing the zone and Danny was upset with Dale’s consistent selfish play. Grade B+ (Jared would have been proud).

report card, you're talking about "your" team a lot so you're either, johnny, griff, bradley, nick, or bret with one t.

speaking of which, when does video get posted?

Anonymous said...

Griff said...

Whose to say I was even there?

Please... it's so obvious who Report Card is. There is no anonymity with that writing style!

You tell me who I am and I'll tell you who RC is.

Talent doesn't make up for chemistry on a team

The white team just wasn't on the same page at all & that's why we were yelling back and forth at each other

In general we (Saugus hockey) have some pretty talented players when looked at individually we also have some players that are improving, but we also have a group of players that are hard to play with not because they lack talent or skill but because they don't play as team and can't get on the same page as the rest of the team

perfect example happen between Brendon and me

He was standing at center ice after dark got a goal

I had the puck and looked right at Brendon and there wan't anyone within 10 feet of him so I was going to pass him the ball, made eye contact, gave the head nod to let him know it was coming. He proceeds to hold his stick up by his neck and walk over to me to see what I wanted

Dale has a great shot, but if you notice as a game goes on less and less of his teammates will join a rush up ice with him if he's having a non passing night

I guess what I'm saying is white team didn't lack talent/skill it lacked chemistry as a team
