Post Number 300

Someone has thrown cement into our washing machine. There's a snake in my boot. There is a wrench in the perfect setup, the perfect team. The pins were lined up for success, it was actually going to work as planned. We actually were going to go into this with confidence. But tragedy has struck. Lesson learned, nothing ever goes to plan. We have lost the best competitive player we have ever had. Replacement shouldn't be easy, should it? Over the last week, and the last few days especially, we have seen and heard speculation, theories, and just plain crazy ideas for the ultimate team player's replacement. And to that, Ladies and Gentleman, I say, it can't be done. It's not a knock on the endless list of possible replacements. It's not an attempt at pumping up an ego, it's just the truth. He was the silent leader-perhaps even the glue to such a diverse group. But isn't that what a captain is supposed to do? We may have to move on, and we can definitely be successful without him-it just wont be as easy. Give him time. Even if he is only at 70% he can help us reach the ultimate team goal.

Im willing to wait, in fact, Im making the decision for us. We are waiting. He is going to play and he is going to be a major factor for us. I'm sure of it.

Jared, I was very disturbed to hear of this. My head hung down low after reading the email from Johnny today. I've been busy and not been on the blog the past month or so. I'm there on Sunday...

Whether you play or not, I hope your still coming with us. You can count on being carried on our shoulders when we do the, "We Are the Champions Victory Lap."

Get well lil buddy and stay positive.

Jared, obviously everyone is going to have different advice so take what you want out of this

One of the key things i was told and this was pre operation was to strenthen my legs as much as possible, now I'm not talken heavy lifting (unless you can) I'm talken all the stabilization muscles around you knee

Some of the things I did that really helped
- Use a balance board, piece plywood 1'w x 3'L & a 1' long 4" PVC pipe
- Stand on one leg (injured one) during the songs at the meeting
- While your sitting around take a tennis ball & softball and put one at a time under the center of your foot (no shoes) and push down on it, hard to explain why, but you'll feel the muscles around your knee flex
- Wall Squats, lean against a wall and just sit there as long as you can
-Stretch and it as much as you can, good way to do this is on an excercise bike that you can peddle both forward and backward, go in one direction as far as you can then reverse, until you can just peddle normally- may take a few sessions

Make sure to ice for at least 15 minutes after

if you can strengthen everything around it you have decent functionality pre op and much easier rehab post op

sorry about that one spelling mistake where i flipped two letters. i must be an idiot.

Did anyone else start pushing the ground with one of their legs?? hahaha

wouldn't it be more fun if he tried to balance a 10' stick of pipe? Better yet, let's breakout the ridgid!

Wow there has been basically blog silence....

Bretts post goes unanswered, basically not even acknowoledged until my mention

In a week were there were apparently a bunch of no shows and a looming tournament coming up I expected more post yesterday.

anyway - GO bruins!!
Can you imagine if the B's end up in the cup facing the Sharks! How ironic would it be to have B's standing in Thorntons way to get a cup and if they won it.

Mike, I was just thinking the same thing...I expect there to be a bit more activity today and throughout the week.

i have three hockey ball marks on my body.
I dropped 5 pounds over the weekend. I think most of it was sunday.

No complaints from me. Go bruins, go Celtics????!!!!

Bruins-Blackhawks - calling it now!

Brett said...

is it wrong to pray for a bruins Montreal matchup next round?

John said...

Bruins-Blackhawks would be great, as well as Bruins-SJ. If it were Detroit though, then I think the B's might have home ice advantage.

Mike D said...

The 2 best story lines if the B's advance all the way would be B's - Pens & then B's-Sj

i think the silence can speak louder than a post sometimes.
