"He's choking how, everybody's joking now..."

We cant play a game like game one. Our team is not highly skilled or highly talented. We are built to out hustle and out work. We have to use our "intimidating size" to win battles in the corners, create turnovers and hopefully capatalize on opprotunities. We dont have the ability to out skill teams. Our success starts and ends at defense. And, frankly, we lost game one because of soft goals and a loose defense. Scoring was not the issue. If we score 7 we should win. But we didn't and change was needed. That's what the captain wanted. "Oh Captain, My Captain!"

Ok, I'm going to be honest. I had no idea who the captain was until a few games later when the infamous timeout occurred, and I'd like to think that's been smoothed over. But seriously, im not over it. But we can talk about that later. After the melt down in our first game, change was decided. A shake up. But was it for the better or just a complete overreaction?

Game 2: That's what Im talking about

Game two was going to make or break everything. How could we possibly continue to enjoy ourselves if we started 0-2? And lets be honest, if we lost, Jared would have been a wreck for game 3.

It was a game we needed to have. On the surface, the big change was moving Griff up to offense and Borges D. But it was actually more than that. Jared was now playing with John and Brett with Griff. Big shakeup. And it was just what we needed. Borges was instant offense. He managed 2 goals early. One was a quick shot from the point and the other on a penalty shot. We wore the Snipers out. It was a masterful effort by the entire Alliance Team (woops!).

It was actually a very close game (3-1 at the half)until we made it into a laugher as the Snipers became tired out (and uninterested). 10-2 Final. Smiling faces again.

Let me apologize now. Game 3 recap will be much better. I really had nothing for this. I had something completely different last night but I just couldn't make it work the way I wanted. It would have been cold hearted of me to leave it as it was. I scrapped something together, just now, when my original Idea fell to pieces. I couldn't invest anymore time into this disappointment. I had to move on.

To me this picture was the most bothersome....Who was defending this guy?? Obviously we have no idea who was out there, or the situation. Maybe the Dman had the ball behind the net? Thats the only thing I could come up with. But based on what goalie is doing, I'd say thats not the case. I was debating...is that Tony?

Game 2: Panic!

3 Johnny - The new line of Jared and Johnny paid huge dividends this game as their line combined for over 50 percent of the goals scored this game. Maybe we’ll see more of this duo in Saugus next year.

2 JB - Got the team off to a very quick start scoring the first 2 goals of the game. And we still hadn’t seen him play hard.

1 Jared - JB might have gotten the team the start they needed, but Jared game them the finish they absolutely needed. Next time Jared, try to space your goals out a little more. Especially if you wanna play keep playing on a line with Johnny.

the b-team video has some great commentary! The team that we were talking to was the team that didn't show for the first round of the playoffs. I wish they showed up. I woulda taken the scoring title

you're right. I went and looked at my text from a you to say "nope, you told me 8". I counted the names last night....and some how came up with 8.

I recounted just now...and came up with 10. I cant count.

Nick said...

thanks for the link Jared...I put the picture up...though facebook's image is better quality.

Nick said...

btw jared, Im very disappointed you didnt have a comment about the title of this recap.

besides it being a reference to the eric/jb thing...it was also a line from an eminem song...i thought you'd catch that.

Jared said...

Oh I noticed nick, and I laughed

Brett said...

Nick it's time for a game 3 recap. I don't know which game i liked more. Game 3 or round 2 playoff game

John said...

Just as a quick note, the season stats are now up. I have to still do the career and other stats, but they will come a bit later.

John said...

Both games were a blast. The only other MTL game we played that's up there was year 1 playoff game 1...

Brett said...

john you still forgot to gimme the assist i had been complaining about for a month or so.

John said...

Sorry, I will do that before the career stats...

Mike D said...

My stats are almost identical from last year.

Both have 69 games

2009-2010
Goals - 20
Assists - 33
Points - 53

2010-2011
Goals - 21
Assist - 33
Points - 54

i dont set personal goals...only team oriented "achievements" are acceptable.

Nick said...

sorry, wrong thread. That still applies to you frendon!

Nick said...

brett, planning on it.

John said...

Mike, I was searching for a hockey tourney that I saw last year up in the Lakes Region and I saw a question that you posed. How coincidental!

Mike D said...

They actually emailed me back and said that it never happened last year and he gave me someone elses contact.

In the end they both said that there wasn't enough interest to run one

Nick said...

frendon stop posting in a week old thread!

Brett said...

Frendon is by far the best player when it comes to 3 on 2

Nick said...

and you're a dork.

I win.

what does everyone think about lines for our league team? Here's the roster and my suggested lines(we have a bunch of D-men):

Brett
Johnny
Eric
Joe
Billy

Mike D circulating through the line every shift. The way it works is we start the game with the first five and then for the next shift Mike would take my spot. Then for our lines next shift he'd take Johnny's spot, then Eric's, and then he'd sit. and then go back to taking my shift again.

Jared
Johnny
Mike W
Nick
Griff

Frendon doing the same think as Mike D.

And obviously if someone doesn't show, we just won't need to rotate. I've done this method before in league games and it's actually a pretty good system especially late in the games you get that extra rest and can go all out all game long.

Brett said...

just lookied up the meaning of dork. It sums up Frendon pretty accurately.

Brett said...

lookied? ha

Griff said...

Looks like Borges didn't make the cut. Joe clearly proved himself in Canada.

Sorry Borges!

Brett said...

ha meant JB for the second Johnny. We could just double shift Johnny. He's use to not subbing in Saugus.

I wanted JB on defense originally. But we have a lot of defensemen and out of them all i think he could fill the need at center the best seeing as he's played there alot

Brett said...

new update: We're gonna have 3 full forward lines with 2 D lines. Matt P is in.

This is perfect! being able to run hard for a minute and a half and then get off knowing that the next line will be fresh is great.

I'll be toying with the line up all week. post some ideas for lines. and who you'd wanna work with and i'll see what i can do.

Brett said...

quick idea for lines. Keep in mind we can always switch up the lines from game to game if something isn't working.

Line 1:

Brett
Johnny
Frendon

Line 2:

Jared
JB
Griff

Line 3:

Eric
Mike D
Matt P

Defense Lines

Line 1:

Joe
Billy T

Line 2:

Nick
Mike W

Or i could center my own line. This could be my break out year for playing center

Jared said...

There's no way we have three full lines every week, my guess is we have around 10 guys every week which will slowly dwindle to 4-5 guys by august.

Brett said...

of course Jared. But we will have these lines for atleast game 1. We'll cross the "not enough guys" bridge when we get there

Nick said...

Dork:

"USA pejorative slang for a quirky, silly and/or stupid, socially inept person, or one who is out of touch with contemporary trends. Often confused with nerd and geek, but does not imply the same level of intelligence..."

socially inept lololololol

Nick said...

how do you plan on changing dlines???

Brett said...

nick that's the part i was referring to haha

John said...

Didn't see all of the new posts until just now...

Any of those lines look good to me. But Frendon - you better cover your guy!!!!!

Just thought I'd get that out of the way early :)

Brett said...

or we could do:

Line 1

Matt P
Brett
Eric

Line 2

Mike W
JB
Griff

Line 3

Jared
Johnny
Frendon

Nick said...

so you're moving Mike W up and Mike D back?

Dont get me started on Mike D on defense.

Thats meant as a knock, Mike btw. :)

But seriously, Its like putting me at center.

Nick said...

btw, i feel left out...no strategy to the defensive pairings????

Fwiw I like: (the line order doesnt matter)

Line 1:

Jared
Johnny
Griff

Line 2:

Jb
Brett
Frendon

Line 3: "we like to run around"

Eric
Matt P
Mike

Brett said...

there was strategy in the defensive pairings. I didn't want 2 lefties playing together and 2 righties playing together(Francona would love me for that move).

That's why i split you and Billy up. You can take Joe if you want.

And i meant to write Mike D on offence not Mike W

Nick said...

joe and billy are both lefty.

It doesnt matter...I like working with Mike W

Brett said...

Joe is lefty? didn't know

Mike D said...

John - don't forget to tell him to make sure he gets back onside as well.

Oh Nick - please enlighten me with your critigue of my defensive play....
