Hey guys

Big board is back and doesn't know how to post a thread! But any who here's the top ten players from this summer league. No offense to to billy miked or ward who have played decent. Tony you were not good, there's just no way around that...

On we go!

10. Slobcat- a very nice season for bob, was able to grill lots of hamburgers and brought beer the past few weeks.

9. Brendon- bb would like to see him step up against good teams, but if he could really focus in on that hard for check he's a very valuable player. Think mike ward minus obnoxious penalties.

8. Griff- missing games is unacceptable. But beyond that griff was a little hit or miss this year, especially coming off that great tourney in Montreal. He shoots it 100% of the time he touches it...your not Jared.

7. Nick- typical nick, great defensively and don Sweeney esk on offense. The transition game is bothering me, I mean big board. And we thought Johnny was the worst at face-offs?!?!

6. Eric- matched up against weaker lines Eric has disappointed this year. I get it he's awesome and very talented. No one can play with him, including you Brett, so if he's not scoring problems arise. He is great at killing penalties, perhaps his best attribute.

5. Jb- he played defense mostly this year so not sure what wpr was expecting by way of scoring. He was just a defensemen right nick? Really needs to stop chasing the opposing player when they have the ball...it's dangerous for one but it's also painful to watch you run.

4. Jared- scored goals and gave you what you expected, except for a couple of crap games early.

3. Joe- good job Joe, we all thought you were mediocre, you played great every game. That check was awesome and the play of the year. You also might be our goalie in the playoffs.

2. Johnny- most underrated player this year. Johnny has his legs back and it's great to see, in our only loss last week jr was our only player who showed up and he's been a consistent scorer at center...here's another fact, Johnny would lose a face-off against that fat, bitter ref.

1. Brett- Brett ran the league which was very convenient. He provided upbuilding recaps to get us thru boring Tuesday workdays. He blew up lines because a couple players were bored. Good job Brett

There ya go big board is back and hates iPads!

i don't get the Eric one. He was scoring all season. He had 6 goals. Me and Eric only played 1 game together and we connected for a goal. So i don't see any evidence for BB's comments for him

I now see why BB disappeared for a while

Brett said...

eric missed 2 games too. Maybe that's why BB slammed him. Atleast Eric never complained about playing with certain teammates like some others

Jared said...

Eric is 6th that's good! He did miss two games, but I think many would agree with that assessment. You have to acknowledge all of the players who struggle to play with him. Hes still great tho just expect more.

interesting. A lefthanded dman...

"ranks tenth in career goals, eighth in assists and ninth in points with 52–210=262 career Boston totals."

I never saw him play, what were his offensive flaws?

Brett said...

Nick, what's 52 divided by 1051?

Would you be happy with that as your average goals per game?

Nick said...

well...I guess I didnt think. But ill play.

52/1051=.049

yikes.

Sounds like BB was being harsh.

Brett said...

i agree Eric should be 6th. Just not for those reasons.

JB said...

I think BB had it pretty on the money with everyone. Except maybey Brett he didn't text us enough before games. That probably drops him to #2 on the list!

I think BB discriminated against me just because I drink beers from a bottle....

Gotta agree with Big Board about 1 crucial thing: iPads are WAY overrated.

Nice to have, sure...there's just no way it's worth the price of a laptop.

And just regarding my faceoffs...they did improve this past week. I think I'm up to a 20% success rate now!

hp had a sale on tablets. got one for 150. Maybe it's because they aren't making tablets anymore......

i was thinking the other day (which is rare), why would brett give us the first line and not take it for himself? is he really that nice guy?

then i came to my senses and realized if he's on line 2 he can face their weaker line.

very sneaky brett but im onto you.

Brett said...

LOL!

Brett said...

i actually want you and Jared out there first cause you guys have the most experience in leagues and it gives the rest of us guys a little time to settle down before our shift. I know i get nervous before each game(except the game against the ducks)

Updated standings

Did anyone notice they took away our tie??

Mike D said...

maybe that tie giving us one more point would have put us in the bracket that played on Thursday and since Brett had talked to them about Thursdays this was how they could avoid it

John said...

If you guys noticed the schedule, it looks like Monday will be the only game we get to play. The winner of Monday night has to play Thursday at 7:00...

Nick said...

if the stragglers that can make it manage to win, the game after would also be a thursday.

Nick said...

though its @ 10 so most of us could get there in time (in theory)..the finals is on the monday after...

if we win monday, could the stragglers play well enough to sneak out a win on thursday?? Would they even have a goalie?

Jared said...

I'd be there for Thursday, and I love ice time!

Who else doesn't have meeting on Thursday? I know ward could make it...and brendon and bobcat I think.

John said...

Yeah nick, if we win and make it to that next game, I could do ten on a Thursday.

Brett said...

i don't want anyone skipping their meeting on thursday to play. If those who don't have a meeting want to try and play they can

Brett said...

I love how we're talking like we already made it past the first round

As I stood on a street near my house I saw about 10 guys walking towards my with.....(drum roll please)....THE STANLEY CUP!!! So, I asked the guy holding it if I could touch it and he said yeah and so I did and then I got some pictures of it. That was easy.

Dale said...

Here's a picture my brother took with me in the background.

Dale said...

Here's a close up of the cup. That hand touching it belongs to a famous retired magician who is very old and now confined to a wheelchair.

Nick said...

where were you?

Dale said...

I was in Beverly. The P.R. director for the Bruins is from Beverly and it was his turn with the cup and he displayed it all over town throughout the day. I kept hearing where it was and I would go there and it would be so crowded I couldn't get near it or someone would say: "You just missed it." I was about to give up, but I decided to try one more place and as I was standing there on the street in front of the Cabot Cinema where it was rumored to be next, 8-10 guys came out of Super Sub with the Cup and started walking towards me. The rest is history. lol

Dale said...

I was told by a friend of the P.R. director that Harry Sinden has it today (Monday) and he will be in the town where he lives with it. I think they said he lives in Winthrop? Don't quote me on that. The Winthrop police might know. They notified the Beverly police about the visit and even brought it to the station.

John said...

That's very cool Dale!

Dale said...

The coolest part was there wasn't a big crowd there. Just a few people. Once and a while people driving by would notice what was going on and be like...."Is that the Stanley Cup?" It was weird, but, cool. Earlier in the day the line to see it was about 2-3 hours long with people standing outside in the heat and you had to pay $20 to get a picture with the Cup. The money went to a charity. I think some people may have ended up getting heat stroke because I saw ambulances coming when I left the line. It was pretty hot out and if you didn't bring a drink and you were old, you were in trouble. Fortunately, I got to just walk up to it, touch it and take pictures. No charge. Oh, by the way, You could see the dent that Ryder put in the Cup.

Nick said...

heat stroke? was joe there?

Nick said...

great game tonight boys...a lot of fun.

I'll be rooting for you guys on Thursday!

Nick said...

Quiet today. Yeah go for it Brendon.

And yes the playoff schedule was mentioned earlier in this thread.

Brett said...

this week we have another game at 7 vs the top team in our division. Then next week(if we win this thursday) we have another game on thursday again but at 10 PM
