Three weeks is way too long not to play hockey!! Outside rink this week.
Who is in this week? Jared's idea in the last post is pretty interesting I think: set teams, but only for a month at a time. After which, reshuffle them. I think we should implement it, but would like your feedback. If we do them then we can start to form them over the course of this week once people say if they're in this week or not. The other thing to think about: do we do timed games again this year? Did everyone like it?
As I mentioned I am hoping that we start expanding the pool of players this year. We'll see if that works out.

Let's plan the Haverhill cup for saturday oct 15th if that works for enough people.
in. Don't care about timed games or not. If timed games made anyone stop coming then go back to games up to 5. Unless it just made Lenny stop coming, if so then keep it.
I don't think timed games had an impact either way. I just want to make sure people liked it and wanted to play that way again this year. My guess is that we will.
why aren't there any adults who want to exercise? Ron get off you're butt and start playing hockey where you can't stack the teams in your favor like you do in Acton

Perhaps the indoor rink would be better with rain yesterday and this weekend coming?
I think the inside one will still be available. If it seems slippery we should be able to switch it.

The teams were picked as fairly as possible imo. JB had first choice of goalie or Nick. He then chose Jared. And we picked even up from there.
Both trades were proposed by JB.
I understand Frendon. Nick is just too hard to work with on D. He just doesn't know how to handle himself back there. Frendon, could you list all the defensemen that were there last night? I only counted 4. Both teams had 2 as far as my count goes before Bob got there

Stats are coming. I forgot to bring them in today, but I am setting up the database so that I can enter them in for the first time this year.
As for stats off of the top of my head I think Brett had 10 points, and me, Jon, and Jared were all in the 5-6 range. I'll have the exact numbers up tomorrow.
Question for you guys...what would you think of a King of the Court kind of format every now and then?
If we had a format of 3 on 3, and making 3 teams? Games up to 3 or ten minutes (whichever comes first). Winning team stays on. Winning team at the end of the night stays in-tact for the following week. Everyone else is arranged into new teams. On the occasions we have 15 guys or more it could be 4 on 4. The sitting team designates a ref.
The benefits would be that each week becomes almost like a mini-tournament. Teams can play all out for each game knowing that the game will be short. Obviously the more a team wins, the more likely it will be that they will lose due to fatigue from staying on. As we have more players we add a sub for each team.
So last night could have been something like:
Team 1
Jon, Mike D, Billy, Bob, Johnny S
Team 2
John, Brett, Frendon, Brad
Team 3
Jared, Nick, Mike W, Elliot
Obviously the negative is that the stats are completely different, and would be useless against historical stats. Also, some people would play more each week than others based on how their team does. But, you'd be looking at each team playing 5 or 6 games.

I am going to make a post for the Haverhill Cup tomorrow and display a running list of who can play. I know that Billy said yesterday he couldn't because of work.
Brendon, I thought my father played very well yesterday. Maybe 2 or 3 soft goals. However the teams would have been unfairly stacked with two of me/jb/brett/jared and Nick and Darrin. I figured JB would take Darrin in net, but he surprised me.
Brett, I'd have Bobby plan on playing net if you can.
i don't think Darrin can do Saturdays either. I'm pretty sure he works on Saturdays
The other option would be playing this coming Monday (Columbus Day) if enough people could make it.
i think its time to send out some text messages to find out cause just posting on this website won't do the trick.
I think i could get 2 or 3 guys plus bobby in net for the haverhill cup if it was on a saturday at 1 or 2
Yeah, I'm going to send out text messages as well. Plan on a week from Saturday at 1:30. Ideally we have 16 guys (4 teams of 4) but if we don't we'll just do 3 teams of 4.

Quick update regarding the stats: I got the database all setup for this year, so now I just need to add last week's stats. Should be ready today if I can get the time...the way it's going though probably tomorrow.

Nick, I was waiting to hear back from Jared before booking the rink. Obviously there is the pats - jets gameon Sunday. So depending on how many want to play I can book the rink or wait until next week.
I prefer to play personally, but want to see what everyone thinks.

I'm out Sunday but I'm working on a monday night league in dracut. The guy said they already have 10 teams but he's going to see if one of the teams will move to another night. He said he wants us to play so he would do his best to get us in. I'm just waiting to hear.
