Hockey This Sunday?

Hi guys,

I will be away next week, so we can either plan to play this Sunday, or the Sunday after Thanksgiving.  Let me know who can play this week and I'll know whether to plan it this Sunday or the other one.

Update: We'll plan for the Sunday after Thanksgiving. On the bright side, season stats are finally updated!

It's looking like the Sunday after Thanksgiving will work out better, but here's what we have so far:
In for this Sunday: John, Brett, Billy
Out: Steve, Lenny, Joe, Jared

Finally a new thread, I'm gone this week, but we should try for hockey sometime over thanksgiving.

It’s on me

A few weeks ago I made the comment that as a team we played like a team that didn’t have the cones to win. I heard someone say we win as a team – we loose on a team. I usually feel that way except for this game

This loss falls squarely on my shoulders. There is no excuse for what happen. We played as a team all night; I lost it for you guys as an individual in the last minute. I’m the one who lacked the cones to do a simple play. It was a play that someone who had never played before probably could have done.

I have no excuses for what happen –NONE. All I can say is that loss is squarely on me.

John - I'm won't know about Sunday until the end of the week

I debated about commenting on your post Mike, but, I do know how you feel. I felt that way too after that playoff loss. It's not for undue attention. You just genuinely feel bad because you feel like you let the team down and you want to apologize for it because you feel so bad about it and you want to express what you think other people might be thinking, too. Whether they are or not. I can relate. Just remember though, it shouldn't come down to just one play. There are a lot of things that go on in a game that lead up to that one moment. There's plenty of plays that weren't made by other people throughout the game, too, I'm sure. It all adds up to a loss. Try not to take it so hard. I think everyone would agree with me that you are a solid player that always tries your best out there. That's all you can do. None of us are perfect. You are probably over thinking things.

I wasn't taken hard, but thanks

I was taking ownership of it
I only complain about people not taking ownership and making excuses

Where you're correct about it shouldn't come down to one play, this one did.

Not only did it give them the lead, it completely deflated everyone.

Wasn't trying to be a marter by any means - just taking what I felt was mine.

I don't respect people who make excuses either instead of taking ownership for their mistakes. Then on the other hand, sometimes we can take too much ownership for something we did. That's just a side point.

I wasn't there to know what actually happened, but, I think every single player who has ever played hockey can look back on at least one game (if not a few games) where they felt they were the reason their team lost. Sometimes we are the hero and sometimes we're not. It's the nature of the beast.

I could play this week.

For those not there tonight. Solid win this week. Darrin made a big difference with his shutout. 2 -0. Shoulda been 5-0. Felt good to beat the team we shoulda beat last week

Was that the same team?

Mike D said...

I'm glad I wasn't the only one that didn't realize that was the same team

Billy the Kid said...

Was that the same team we played last week??

John said...

Yeah, but Mike - I wasn't there!

They had a bunch of guys this week that were not there last week.

I have a turkey dinner to attend

as long as you don't celebrate thanksgiving.

How does one celebrate thanksgiving anyway?

Nick said...

most celebrate in front of Best Buy to get the best deals.

I would play on Thursday.

Brett said...

what a win tonight. Very dominant. We need to do something special if our line ever scores a goal.

John said...

We should practice our goal celebrations for that day. Outside of picking up the hockey ball and spiking it on the floor, any suggestions?

What happened to wpr and weekly timely recaps?
