wow! thats exactly what i said last night before the game for my pep talk. and the kids name was jonathan. what are the chances? the only thing i was missing was the zombie face paint.
3 Nick - For sheer entertainment purposes, Nick gets the third spot this week. Sometimes it pays to be comically bad with the ball.
2 Jared - He didn't go backhand on his breakaway. It's amazing how far he's come.
1 JB - His 2 goals were huge. But try to space them out more over the course of the game. Logged big minutes. The only thing that his performance on offense this week did, was make it harder to move him back to D. Which is where you need him from here on out.
Johnny is the rink open for this saturday? We should play seeing as its a bye week next week. aNd nothing is a bigger pick me up than scoring 8 goals a game vs poor competition.
Johnny its not rust, its zero confidence. And you demonstrated it when you sent an airmailed pass to Jared who was smothered by the defensemen, instead of shooting on what was pretty much a breakaway.
I'm not trying to kill you here or start an arguement. I'm just telling you what i saw as a spectator and what other players said while they were waiting to play their game. Lets play Saturday if at all possible. I can get guys. Plus im sure Frendon could use the practice.
The only way I could play on Saturday is if it's early, like 1:00 - 3:00. If enough guys can make it then I'll book the rink.
Brett, there's a number of factors with rust being one of them. Monday night is the only exercise I get right now, so the 20 minutes I'm running a week hasn't allowed me to get into shape. The more fatigued that I am on a shift, the less effective I am shooting the ball. Unfortunately, when you get into your mid-30s you need more exercise, not less.
But, I've taken maybe 5 practice wrist shots in 2 months (and none on the run). Especially on that floor I have to get my timing down shooting the ball.
Did whiffing on a couple early get in my head a bit? Yeah, it had an effect. But, it's not why my shot was awful in the first place last night.
On the play to Jared, it was a two on one, and the D stayed in the middle. I didn't want to risk a turnover so I made sure the pass had some speed behind it. In that situation it was better letting Jared run it down then have them steal the pass and try to tie the game up.
So why hasn't JB lost his shot? He's incredibly obese and is more unhealthy than most people on Earth yet he can still shoot even though he only plays once a week. He didn't get to warm up this week yet he still had 2 goals. Ron hadn't played in a year yet his first game back he had some goals on great shots. Johnny if we don't play or practice till the next game in two weeks and you score 3 goals and get 2 assists, what will you attribute your success to for that game?
Again not looking to argue, just trying to help you see what the real problem is. Me and everyone else watching could see it.
jb plays Sunday mornings too as far as I know. Plus, his shot is a snapshot. He takes them all of the time. I am rarely taking wrist shots, especially while moving. I don't get the comparison.
What's the real problem btw? As for the stick, i don't know what type it is.
I give up. Johnny is more content with nitpicking and "rust" instead of seeing where he can improve and fix his problems. Johnny most of us play once a week. Everyone who plays once a week had a better shot than you last night. Everyone who has you same circumstances in regards to hockey played better than you. Just say it with me Johnny.....you had a bad game.(Daniel powder style)
Now the goal is to get back to what you were during the summer league where u scored regularly....... playing once a week!!! Yes Johnny it can be done. You've done it before. No not 10 years ago, but just 4 months ago. When you were still in your thirties.
