3 Jared – 2 goals were nice but could’ve and should’ve had more. At least a hat-trick anyway.
2 Mike D – He gets number 2 because he had his first goal in 5 years and I don’t know if I’ll ever get another reason to put him in the top 3.
1 Brett – Great first goal. Even better second goal. Truly a top line with Jared JB and Brett. Ron has been replaced on that top line. He should’ve never taken a week off.
Question is when everyone plays, what are the lines? Is Mike Ward coming back this season? Will Brendon need to play to give the Alliance 3 full lines?
However, I put the feeler out a few weeks ago about the tourney and it seemed like most people (Brett, Eric...) Couldnt play. I dont know if we have enough guys.
3 Zack – His ability to work his way onto the team without anyone ever seeing him play before is amazing. Never mind the fact that he got to be on the top line. He just might be that scrappy, fore-checking, speedy third liner, who’s name isn’t Brendon that the Alliance have desperately been looking for.
2 Johnny – Nothing overly impressive from Johnny this week. This is more of a cumulative rank for Johnny for his play over the past 5 weeks or so. He’s got quite the goal scoring streak going. Maybe longer than anyone else on the team.
1 Brett - Wow! Two weeks in a row at the top. How does he do it? What a great player. Probably the best player I’ve ever seen. One teammate asked: “Why does Brett try harder verse crappy teams?” He doesn’t try harder, he just looks more impressive when playing against a bunch of old men(who he can’t out run) and who have given up half way through the game. Power play was a thing of beauty that will never be repeated.
Honorable Mention: Jared
Great footwork!
Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy goes to: Mike D
For beating death, and returning to the line up the next week
3 Ron – In the absence of Joe Italiano, Ron was the odd man out and got demoted to D. Even though he didn’t get to unload too many shots, his ability to see the ice and not panic with the ball was a nice asset to have. Having him on the penalty kill was nice cause he could actually get it out of the zone when needed
2 JB – What a year for JB scoring wise; beating out Jared by a single point (Brendon probably would’ve beat JB. Now I see why he didn’t let him play). Jon salted the game away, as well as the scoring title, by restoring the two goal lead for the Alliance in the third.
1 Darrin – The one good thing that came from the Alliance giving up 5 breakaways in the first 3 minutes is that we got to see that Darrin’s still got it. That stick save was ridiculous!
Defense C-: Got to say it could’ve been better. A few too many breakaways. Beaten a few too many times one on one. Unable to get it out of the zone on many occasions. Where the defense did shine, was board play and being gritty and tough. Joe was a great deadline addition. But don’t forget that this grade is for the whole season and Bob was on the team to start the season.
Defensive Leader: Nick. I know he’s only about a 1.5 tool player, but I bet if you ask Darrin who he’d want playing in front of him all game, he’d say Nick
Offense B+: Top line production was present all year. JB and Jared put up points and it didn’t matter really who was on the other wing. Second line showed spurts, but with Eric and Brett being irregular and Johnny doing basically nothing for the first eleven weeks, the load was heavy on the shoulders of the top line. Not putting teams away was a problem all year. Question is, does JB try and make a balanced attack with the two lines, or keep the scoring heavy with the top line?
Offensive Leader: Jared. Yup, JB won the scoring title, but Jared was the most skilled offensive player all season. He scored in every way shape and form and his commitment to defense was markedly better.
Special Teams C: A wash. Probably scored more on the PK than the PP. Really no point in having “PP Line” it’s all a crap shoot when you only have a minute. But if Griff can keep taking open hand punches to the face for a 2 minute power play then it might be worth it.
Goaltending C+: Inconsistent. Not only due to 3+ different goalies playing for the Alliance, but also in the performances of each of the goalies. But let’s focus on Darrin. Just as in Montreal, Darrin seems to make the saves he shouldn’t and some of the saves he should make, he doesn’t. As a team player who’s name starts with a J (TPJ) said “Darrin’s gonna need to be great if we have a chance”. He definitely has the ability to be as evident in last night’s game.
Playoff Prediction: 1 And Done. I don’t think anyone has ever mentioned this deficiency in the team, but this team just doesn’t have the killer instinct. It’s just good that it’s a 7 o’ clock game so there’s plenty of time for beer and wings. Brett will show up at 8.
The complaints against the defense is more than fair. Yeah we could win more one on one battles on the entry of the other team. And yeah, We have spots where we can't get the ball out (though it's usually compounded by a winger or two staying out for too long of a shift). I get that.
But it's absolute crap that the defense is getting ripped on for the breakaways yesterday. For months the defense was told: " be more aggressive on offense, who cares about a few breakaways? We want you guys to pinch in more"
Someone came up with clever and witty rhymes To most, the defense screws up all the time WPR uses the phrase "Demoted to D" Which makes Nick mad and angry But to blame the defense is truly a crime
As for me, I could care less what people say I try my hardest whenever I play Because at the end of the game My line remains the same "Bottoms Up! Here's to the end of another Monday!!
Billy the term "demoted to d" comes from making fun of frendon cause he truly thinks its a demotion to be put on d. its purely making fun of frendons thinking process
Nick it's about when the goals are scored against us. We've given up two goal and three goal leads this season to teams with a .500 winning percentage. Our goals against was above 3 and it was only that low cause we were able to shutdown the sudden deaths of the world. JB and Jared made alot of our mistakes disappear.

30 years old today! i feel fat, slow, out of shape and my knee hurts. I feel the same as when i was in my twenties! i must be one of the lucky ones.
So Johnny, how many homers did you hit?
How many did i hit?
That's a shame.
"I wasnt trying to hit homers"
Blah blah blah...
When was the last time anyone ever saw Johnny not try and hit a homer in softball? Puh-leez.
Never. It doesn't happen.
You were smoked. Next time, we need to find a ballpark to contain me...teehee.
By the way....what is the roster for Maryland??

We should do the summer tourney later this mon in dracut since ocean city isn't happening. I want to do some sort of tourney this summer.
I'm down.
It kinda stinks that the Monday night playoffs start the following Monday (at least I'm pretty sure they do)
The Bright side is that we will have a Built-in excuse for when we lose. Hahaha.
I'll play.....

It was a fun game last night...I pretty pumped for playoffs already.
Hopefully joe heals up nicely. We will need him,

Are u mocking me?
That's not cool
There's nothing more disappointing than seeing a couple new posts and realizing they are just doubles.
I thought the game was kinda boring. Maybe it was because I had to drink water after.
If it makes anyone feel better, the nurse missed my vein the first time and had to poke me twice with the needle! Ouch!!

"I'm really good at skating but I can't stick handle"
Perfect. You're in.
Are we planning on three lines? It'd be nice to have our full team next week before the playoffs start..
Cough Ron cough
Haha Nick.
You know, I can skate well also.
No wonder I have been such a good addition to this team....
There ya go Jared...another double post tease.
Hey Brett post some of your hockey video we haven't seen yet
you've seen it all. I'll post the uncut and unrated version of the semi final. and maybe even the pregame interviews
You have Florida footage and past montreal footage too right?
There once was a guy named Mike
His teammates he didn’t much like
He blew out his knee
“I quit!” he decreed
But showed up next week with some fight
Billy, he plays on a team
Who’s desperate for people on D
He runs kinda slow
With no shot to show
Drinks bottles of beer to extreme
Zackary is quite a find
Top line he does play, Brett don’t mind
He can’t shoot the ball
Gets refs to make calls
They say he’s not very kind
Nick, high waist he does got
Gets deeked and tied up in knots
He fires it high
HUGE feet, that’s no lie
Control there is not for his shot
Ron, he’s quite a strange guy
His shot makes the goalies all cry
He has a moustache
Hockey8 is real class
To Florida, he would not fly (year 2)
Johnny shows up every week
For floors, his game he did tweak
He has just one fear
Going out for a beer
Fam time is a must for this geek
Jared, he runs kinda funny
On beer he spends all his money
JB they’ll anoint
Cause he got one more point
Oh well, try hard next year sonny

Good Habits
3 Mike D – Actually had one of his best games in recent (and long term) memory.
2 Billy T – Dropped an F bomb when the other player lightly tapped Darrin’s padded hand.
1 Zack – Ran hard and dropped a shoulder into the other team’s player that sent him flying.
Honorable Mention: Nick
What can I say that hasn’t been said before?
Oh did I mention this was the top 3 worst edition?

Frendon really likes hockey
He's useful as one walkie-talkie
He plays like he's numb
He checks with his bum
Yet still he remains really cocky
Year in Review

What's the .5?

Well, which is it?
Remember him?
Craig Hansen is back in baseball! He signed with the mets today.
.5 is for speed i'd guess. JB and annonymous just have different theories on defense
At first I thought wpr responded:)
you must be mistaken

It's funny, we have one of the best goals against averages in the league but the defense, goal tending and penalty kill have been mediocre at best.
Billy the term "demoted to d" comes from making fun of frendon cause he truly thinks its a demotion to be put on d. its purely making fun of frendons thinking process
