BREAKING NEWS!

Once again Big Board has received confirmation on another major trade for the much anticipated Haverhill cup.

General Manager Johnny Riley was at it again, this time finding a trade partner in fellow GM Jon Borges.

Here's how it went down:

Johnny has traded Mike Demaio and Hunky Tony in exchange for Jack Riley and William Thomas.

Big Board was first to report this news.

Ummm....my name is not William.

Billy, there's no way you are happy about this trade, any thoughts?

I don't know what Johnny was thinking here

This trade baffles me.

I think we all agree that Jack is #4 on the goalie depth chart. Am I that much of an upgrade over Mike D to trade for the worst goalie? I don't think so.

And here I thought JB liked me. Turns out I was just fodder in the overall scheme of things to him....

Trade bait. You're and UFA after this season Billy. And contract talks had broken down.

Trade deadline is April 6th. 1 second before the game starts. There could literally be a last second trade.

Bobby is 90% in for goalie this week

Cool, so I only have to focus on one more goalie for this week...maybe I can get Steve there early enough.

I'll post my rationale behind the trade in a bit...

So, for the rationale...

I think Tony is clearly the number two goalie in this tourney, with my father and Bobby being roughly equal, and Darrin clearly being the best.

With my original team with Darrin we would have had to completely try to win on defense. Elliot and Andrew would have had to generate most of the offense through a relentless forecheck. I think we would have had a chance, but we were lacking another high-end offensive player. Nobody, including Darrin, seemed to have much hope for us.

More to come...

After the trade to bring Billy D, Tony, and Mike D, it helped us offensively but weakened us in D and goaltending. I think Mike would have been better off as a forward, so either Billy D or myself would have had to play D. Not the best position for either of us.

I think Billy T has come a long way as a "puck moving defenseman" and is probably behind only JB and Brett in that regard (although Billy is behind Nick and Griff overall defensively). Thus, while we get weaker in net it hopefully allows us to keep the ball in the offensive zone far more.

One more post on this...

I think Tony has the edge on my father, especially in breakaways. However Brett's team won last time with one of the worst goalies to ever play with us. They also played Darrin in the finals, so there is a couple of ways to win.

I think we match up pretty well now to each of the other teams.

And let's not forget we also picked up a third round pick in the next Haverhill Cup...that's the type of value that Belichick would love!

Team name announcement.

I have selected a team name for the Haverhill cup. You can call us RESPECT THE STACHE

John said...

Will you all grow one?

JB said...

Ron's is Stache enough for all if us!

Griff said...

Brett really needs a trade for mike d just to make sure he plays for every team before it even starts

Brett said...

Ill wait for him to hit the waiver line.
