Do Elliot and Andrew get to play at the same time with me and griff?

Brett said...

anyone wanna make a trade?

Jared said...

Are trades allowed? That would be fun

John said...

In tournament?

Jared said...

Johnny, do you want to talk about where you went wrong in your draft?

John said...

Are you saying Darrin was a mistake? Darrin, that's motivation for you!

Jared said...

My team plays rain or shine, all other teams are welcome to forfeit.

Borges' team definately lacks in the speed department.

Griff said...

I wonder who will be the first person traded. I think we should have a trading block to see who's being shopped.

Brett said...

I'm on the block.

Can we trade future picks?

Post Draft Analysis

Team Brett: The early odds on favorite to win this event. Will score goals in bunches. The key for this team will be the goalie. If Bobby can play at a relatively high level, watch out...

Team Borges: What this team lacks in speed it makes up for in brains! The key for this team is JB. Does he play F or D? Maybe both depending on the situation. I think JB drafted Billy T just so he can yell at him all day!

Team Jared: The key to this teams success is definitely their #1 pick, Billy D. Is he rusty? Is he in shape? If he can answer the bell, this team can be dangerous.

Team Johnny: This team looks like it will struggle. Goal scoring is an issue here. They are going to have to play a tight, defensive game, a la the NJD in order to win. What went wrong here in the draft is John should have taken Eric, not Darrin with his first pick, IMO. They have the best goalie so we will see how important that really is.

Jared said...

with only 15 minute games we could do a best of 3 series for the playoffs.

Brett said...

i agree billy. Johnny should have taken Eric.

If we only play eachother once during the season then we could do 3 game series in the playoffs i think

Brett said...

Regular Season

Game 1:
Borges vs. Jared

Game 2:
Brett vs. Johnny

Game 3
Johnny vs. Jared

Game 4
Borges vs. Brett

Game 5:
Johnny vs. Borges

Game 6:
Brett vs. Jared

This will take us till about 3-3:30 with each 15 minute game actually taking about 20-25 minutes to play with breaks between games and periods, Frendon having to tape his hamstring more than once, running out of hockey balls and I’m sure we won’t start at 12:30

If we do a best of three series, the first round could take another possible 2-3 hours itslef and we’d run out of day light for the finals. I say just one game series is better or just the finals is a 3 game series. But I prefer just the single elimination just like Montreal. But we can play it by ear as the day goes along

Brett said...

Are we playing rain or shine?

We wouldn't be able to do the week after cause Darrin took the day off so he could play April 6th.

We'd have to reschedule to a Sunday in May so that we'd have more daylight for the later start time

John said...

I would say only the finals be a best out of three (if any).

It's possible it would have worked out better taking Eric first...which team would be better:

John, Griff, Elliot, Andrew, Darrin(G)

or

John, Eric, Griff, Elliot, Jack (G)

Jared said...

I think you know the answer Johnny. Send me a trade offer

Brett said...

No your team would've been John Eric Griff Elliot and your choice of Bobby Tony or Jack.

You could have really set me up for failure if you took Eric.

I would've had to go Darrin Nick and then have Brian and Andrew as my other 2 players

Jared said...

I think what Johnny has in his favor is the short games. Darrin may be able to weather the storm for 10-15 minutes and win a 2-1 game. They would have no chance in a 30 min game I think tho.

Jared said...

And Brett if Johnny took Eric you'd be better off taking griff and nick and takin your chances with tony or bobby. Thankfully you didn't have to deal with that awful scenario

Brett said...

If that happened Jared I would've pouted and cancelled the whole thing

Billy the Kid said...

Are we going to be color coordinated for this event? JB can we be yellow? I want to be yellow...

And are we playing this Sunday? Is everyone in?

Brett said...

Darrin said he's taking the year off to focus on the three F's. Family friends and faith. Sorry Johnny

Jared said...

that would be dissapointing, i too am not sure if brett is joking.

Brett said...

its a play on what Thomas said as to why he was taking the year off.

Yes it's a joke

John said...

I don't know, Darrin has been texting me saying he is fielding offers...it might spark some trade rumors.

In all seriousness though, if Darrin were not to be playing the whole thing blows up and we have to redraft.

Jared said...

No way, that's a risk you assume with any draft pick. Probably why JB took Brendon, you know he will be camped out there a week before hand ready to play.

I think Brett is trying to lower Darrin's trade value, I like the move.

First Formal offer on the table to you Johnny

Mike Ward and Hunky Tony for Darrin and Andrew. You need stability on Defense!

John said...

Our defensively with Griff we should be okay. Offensively we might be challenged.

Brett said...

Put Griff on wing or center. Rely heavily on Darrin. This tournament will be won with offense.

Thats what I would do.

"PPP" the Professor said...

Did JB take a huge leap of faith taking Ron #1, or was it an artfully crafted calculated risk? What were the factors in JB's thought process in that selection? With Eric & Billy D sitting there, what was JB thinking? Well here are PPP's thoughts and expert analysis on the matter.

Eric is all over the place in a regular sized playing surface. In a small court his speed will be less effective and even neutralized. Eric is not a play maker, he's an unbelievable talent with great skills, but pure hockey sense is lacking in his game. The one person who can get the most out of Eric was fortunate that he fell to the 4 spot. Final determination: PASS on Eric as a 1st Pic.

Billy D is definitely worthy of consideration. Billy has great all around skills, he can pass, shot and run. When you look deeper into Billy's game, I see a shell of what he once was. After Billy was taken out with that knee injury in Florida years ago, he has never played like the Billy D of old. He hasn't played much at all in several years, when he did come to Hockey Town, be wore Roller blades a few times. I'd rate him at 60 percent of what he once was. Final determination:Pass on Billy D as the 1st Pic.

Now that alone can't make Ron the obvious choice, but let's take a closer look. Ron is able to score from anywhere he gets the ball & has the time to shoot. Ron can also make the pass through legs and sticks to an open guy. He can also slow the game down by surveying the rink looking for the trailer/open guy. The knock on his game is twofold. The fist thing is conditioning, Ron doesn't posses the speed and agility to run around people and secondly the transition of the smooth, silky hands playing ice hockey hasn't manifested itself in Dek Hockey and probably never will. Final determination: Pic him #1 and Ride the Mustache to Victory

So chew on that for a while and post a comment or two. I'll be in and out and will respond to commentary from intelligent and unintelligent ones that care to banter back and forth.

And for Johnny, I would be interested in your reasoning as to why you passed on Eric in favor of Dearanth (I think that's how you spell it)?

Billy the Kid said...

Gotta love the Professor!! Great stuff there!

"PPP" the Professor said...

Ahh Billy the Kid, also known as Bill H Bonney where I come from.

I have some advice for you. For your team to win you have to come out guns a blazing. Let em go just like you do in practice. You need to bury a couple of them. You got that?

If you can't handle it, then I challenge you to a duel

Jared said...

I have a question for the professor. Do you agree with many of the critics that jbs team wont have enough speed to win this thing? What are your early predictions?

Weekly Power Rankings said...

HAHAHAHA PPP you're so funny! "Expert analysis" made me laugh out loud. Here's just a small sample of why your self-proclamation is laughable.

Let's take a look at Eric. A real look at Eric. "Eric's game doesn't work on a small court". "Eric's speed is a non-factor on a small court".(paraphrasing) Funny how Eric's speed will be negated somehow, yet everyone else who relies on speed like Brett and Jared....and Johnny:) will still be able to utilize it. Doesn't make sense at all. There are a lot of holes in that reasoning. Now QUICKNESS (not to be confused with speed) will be a huge factor and Eric is quicker than everyone else playing. Quicker hands and quicker feet. Period.

Second. Hockey sense means little to nothing in a 3 on 3 game. Skill means everything. Shooting means everything. Eric has both. And for all you who say his moves only work on a big rink not a small rink......THEY WORK BETTER ON A SMALL RINK! Eric thinks he has to beat all five guys before he shoots. Less people to beat=More shots=More goals. Simple math

Now about Billy you're spot on. But these are all simple observations and deductions anyone could make.....as long as they aren't a fool *cough* professor *cough*

I agree with WPR. My only doubt is Eric's less than impressive performance in Montreal last year. Maybe our expectations were too high. Although he did produce quite nicely for the B-Team.

"PPP" the Professor said...

A couple things...

To the intelligent comment. My brother Jared. I'll address your insightful question shortly and will also give my predictions as well. For now I must go report on the FNHL game in Acton.

To the unintelligent nit-wit in the bunch. WPR, the one and only. You haven't changed a bit. I knew there was a reason why you were so full of yourself, now I remember why I used to think so low of you. My 'Expert Analysis' was about the top 3 picks, not about Brett, Jared and others speed. Everyone's speed is negated on a tennis court sized playing area. And if you could actually read, you would see I said this about Eric... "he's an unbelievable talent with great skills". But yes I stand by my account that his hockey sense is limited. A couple examples, since you are so blinded, is Eric plays with horse blinders on. He will make 5-10' passes, but they are mostly at inopportune times and he seldomly, if ever, makes a cross ice pass, or a pass to the point. He doesn't play any position except chase the ball like the mini-mites do. Since you yourself probably never played organized hockey, mini mites are first league players... 6 year old kids.

I will say this, Eric will have some success in the upcoming tourney, but mostly against Johnny's team when the kids are on the ice. But against teams that know him, i.e. Jared and JB's team, he will average at best.

Brett said...

Not to speak for WPR or seem like I'm taking sides but PPP a 10-15 foot pass is a cross ice pass in Haverhill. Maybe you should watch the Bruin's games more often. Brickley loves the short passes to open up space. Eric suffers from his early hockey reputation of not passing so people think he can't.

Keep this on the DL professor, but you know who really can't pass? Ron. I was surprised when you said he could make some good passes, as I hold your opinion in high regaurds, cause the stats say otherwise. In Saugus over his career, Ron averages .55 assists per game while Eric averages .67. And then in Acton where Ron shines amidst lesser players and where there are 12-16 goals scored per team on average, Ron only has 5 assists in 8 games. Eric?.....4 assists in 4 game. As WPR would say, "simple math". Again, I don't want to ruffle anyones feathers here, just thought I'd join the conversation.

Brett said...

im sorry Ron has 7 assists in 8 games in Saugus

JB said...

And Jonny has never been challenged in points in Saugus. That about sums up the validity of Saugus stats!

Brett said...

but i just gave you two instances where Ron fails to demonstrate this hidden ability to pass.

Ron said...

Brett I love you man so don't worry about ruffling my feathers. I'm like a duck... slime, crap, nonsense and everything else that comes up, just rolls right off my silky, smooth feathers.

Wow, the Professor Pumps Up my Tires, then WPR Slashes my Tires. Then later the Professor installs New Plump White Walls and what happens... I come back and the Air is Out of my New Tires again... this is gettin funnier and more silly by the post. I love it.

Yes I agree with JB about stats and Brett should know that stats don't tell the real story either. You gauge a player's talent by the eye ball test. Kids aren't drafted by teams that look at a stat sheet. They send scouts to watch them play.

But let's have some fun at Brett's expense, shall we? Of course we should.

Let's take your example Brett, the lesser talent in Acton ice hockey that I shine against, Eric plays there too & so does Brett.

From the last season stat sheet Brett sent me, I played 5 games, Eric 3 and Brett 4. No surprise Eric and I are #1 and 2.

But where is Brett? Anyone care to take a guess? Is he:

1. Somewhere in the top 5?
2. In the 7 spot?
2. Not in the top 10?
3. In the 9 spot?

Jared said...

I'm going to guess he's in the #9 spot

Brett said...

Ron, I am part of the lesser talent in Acton. I can barely skate
