Sorry that I can't bring myself to post my Insider's Report as a comment of WPR's thread.
WPR's rankings clearly play favorites. Last night's #1 player was Johnny without a doubt. If he had 7 goals it looked like he scored them on 9 or 10 shots. He's the undisputed scoring champ in Saugus and easily overshadowed Brett's night. I don't know exactly how Johnny does it, but he's deadly when he's in the slot with the ball. Nice job Johnny.
WPR used that final goal as the reason to put Brett number one. The player that should of got credit for that play was Ron. It was a perfect pass- tape to tape. But I was very disappointed that Ron didn't look before he made that play. However, all night Ron worked hard on the boards against the iron of Team Johnny, so I think fatigue was a contributing factor on that ill-advised play. I will say on that goal, Brett gets extra points for scoring a pretty nice game winner.
In looking at the evening as a whole, it was obvious the Borges, Jared & Ron line had their way against the Johnny, Brett and whatever player you put opposite Ron line. There was one stretch where team Borges dominated so much Borges was heard saying, "this isn't fair to the other team, I have to break up our line" and proceeded to put Jared on another line for a good stretch of the night. That was a noble gesture on Borges part and the 2nd line appreciated it, but that is only half the story... read on.
What was even more laughable was when the combination of Brett and Johnny kept taking extra long shifts so that they could get their + - back to respectable. It worked, they scored most of their goals against the second line (or should I say 3rd/4th line players). Their embarrassing strategy didn't go unnoticed. Players on Team Borges asked the captain to counter, doing the same thing to them, however Borges made a firm stand and said, "no we are not sinking to that level, let the kids learn from this and understand this is not how we roll". The young ones jaws all dropped in amazement at Borges wise words. Both Jarad and Ron nodded with approval, then turned back to the game with their heads held high.
Note: The missed icing calls are tough ones, especially when the ensuing play is a quick goal. I think the easy solution is this. If a team ices the puck 3 times in any game, that 3rd time is a penalty shot. This way, every icing call will be contested because your only allowed 2 of them before penalty shots are awarded.

Now thats the type of unbiased opinions this blog needs!
Im sick of brett always siding with WPR too
So far, the professor has the closest thing to a recap the site has had in a year...Nick, you've been surpassed!
As for the ice time, I really didn't think our shifts were too long, although without timing them it's tough to tell. I had a long one during game three when we didn't have a rested center, and we kept the first line out in OT in Game 2. Outside of that they seemed pretty even.
One final thing, I spoke with JB today and am going to try to cut down on having too many inexperienced guys playing at the same time. We will still probably end up with a couple, but ideally not a whole line of guys that haven't played each week.
I hate that idea..my value as a defenseman gets cut in half if I can't ice it :)
I echo Jon's sentiments.
I will admit that we were out there against the second line a couple times. Not to the extent you think but we both know there's no reasoning once you get a certain thought inside your head. But your team was out there vs our second line. I don't know why we get criticised for it and you don't. You guys should be ashamed that you couldn't capitalize like we did. We were constantly up against your two best defensemen in Joe and Mike.
I didn't know that it was a rule we had to change as soon as your top line did? Next time. We could do it like they do in NH. I wouldn't mind that
Well im just saying having the top line vs the top line all night no matter who they're made up of. Just the 5 best vs the other 5 best. That's if we get 47 people showing up next week too. If we don't have enough for 2 lines on each team it wouldn't work.
As you know I usually don't like to post anything other than the official and unquestionable rankings each week. But to hear that someone question my integrity and unbiased observations....well that needs to be defended and laid to rest.
In no way shape or form do I have any resentment toward Ron Leger. He is a phenominal player that, if I ever learn to play hockey, I would hope to have the pleasure of playing on his line. I would never leave someone off the list beacuse of my personal feelings towards them. Especially Ron. It's not like he's affiliated with PPP or anything.
Brett what do you mean by 'your team', 'your line', etc. etc.? I'm an independent news reporter that tells it like it is. Don't confuse me with WPR (which should be an impossibility)
And just between you and me, I'd watch out for him when your family is around. He can be very biased and influential. Your little boy is like a sponge and will pick up undesirable traits from WPR.
PPP I don't mind posting under your thread. Figure I'd throw you a bone and bring some credibility to what spews out from your keyboard.
I was reffering to the older posts by players on the White team.
Wise words as always from the Professor. I will heed your advise to the best of my ability, but I'm afraid Gabe is a lost cause already.
Wow Brett those are nice words, and I actually think you were sincere about it. I share your sediments in how you play the game. You always bring incredible intensity to the game and it's always fun playing with or against you. You have great hockey skills and the speed to use those skills. Put those together and your an elite player, no question about it.
As far as what PPP thinks... well I have no control over that. He's at such a different level when it comes to intellectual hockey speak :) He can find the holes in any ones game.
Wait... did WPR post those nice words about me?
I take what I said about you Brett all back... You stick out there :)
I like Ron's little ice skater dude...funny
As far as icing, and offsides for that matter, I don't agree with PPP. I thought the goal was not to call icing unless it was blatantly obvious. To contest every one is a problem, as we can see.
Just stop calling it. Easy. Unless it is plainly obvious. Or it's Nick. Haha
