Weekly Power Rankings

5-4-14

The Final Week

Remember how monumental the final week in saugus use to be? MVP, Jennings, and Selke award voting (whether rigged or not) was a big deal and a fitting end to season we all lived and died for. The good ol' days

10 Elliot - I hope he reads the site because hes about to become the new whipping post. I should say my second favorite whipping post. Am I dwelling on how slow and sloppy he played last night? Maybe. The amount of self passes he didnt connect on last night was astounding. And lets throw Andrew in here too. Im not sure if I have enough room yet to give him his own spot. Calder trophy? Cant remeber if this was their first year or not. Brett Davis is runner up.

9 Griff - Lost between being a winger a center and a defenseman, Griff was disinterested most weeks and got the only roughing penalty of the year. Defense is where he belongs in my opionion. Just has to communicate better with his goalies.

8 Johnny - Yes Johnny is this low for the year. Just because he had a nice month of April doesnt mean he made us forget about the other 240 days of the season. He did nothing much to help his teams for 7 months and did even less at home to help the site. No trophy awarded. Not even the lady bing with all his one handed shoves from behind.

7 Billy T - I'd sy he took a step back this year. Or maybe even fell backwards. Billy was briefly known as the second best defenseman in saugus and was even up for discussion for a tournament invitation. Now hes about the 5th best defenseman, with 2nd, 3rd and 4th place remaining vacant. No trophy.

6 Mike D - Now here I absoluteIy am focusing on the past few weeks. Although its more like the past few months. Mike has been producing way above the expectations he had set for the past couple years. And is close to being as valuable as he was 5 years ago. To get back to that point was quite a steep climb, but I'd say he scaled the mountain. More like a hill actually. Most improved (a saugus award)

5 Brett - A bit of a disappointing year with being MIA for the first few months and then suffering a debilitating ankle injury late in the season. Although Brett did ref and he salvaged the season this past week by stealing away the Vezina trophy from Mike Melo in the final week. Vezina trophy.

4 Mike W - A close second for most improved, Mike consistently had that one goal a week that made you go "Wow, maybe there actually is something there" (cue the song from Beauty and the Beast) and he was entertaining as always.....although not as entertaining as warren. No throphy.

3 Borges - Selke trophy winner due to a lack of candidates. Borges struggle between wanting to play defense and win, or playing offense and accumulating points was a season long battle of emotions. Back to center I say. A position you could dominate with Johnnys decline.

2 Nick - He was picked number 1 many weeks this year, and for me, this was long over due. His dominance on defense was present every week and hitting the net was noticably better. Noris Trophy

1 Jared - His figurative trophy case is going to be full of figurative trophies after this season. Art Ross, Hart, Rocket Richard.

Honorable Mention: Brendon - Did nothing in any week, to merit him showing up the following week. Brendons contributions this season were slim to none. But he does get the Masterton trophy because of playing through an illness that hockey tape couldnt fix.

Jared you were right. We never were trailing in the game 2 of the playoffs.

But the score was 1-1. 2-2. 3-3. 4-4 and even 6-5 before we blew the doors off. Pretty entertaining game to watch

Why would you question Jared? He's watched those videos a thousand times.
