Nice job with the Stats frendon.

Fwiw. Unfinished games do not count as games played for players, but they do for goalies resulting in higher PPG and lower GAA. Everyone wins. Or at least that's how Johnny use to do it back in the old days when he did stats.

I didn't realize game winning assists were a thing, can we get Brendon to update the player cards?

I'm not exactly sure how unfinished games *should* count, since there is no such thing in hockey, or any sport, really.

So I just add the goals to each player's team goals for/against and leave it at that. By the end of the season, generally there aren't enough unfinished games to make much of a difference in any stat line that matters. All it does really is slightly boost your overall points for/against per game.

@Jared, this year, I decided to add a new stat: game-winning assists. Why should only one player be "clutch" and get the credit, right?

This is another one of our made-up stats for our amusement only that has nothing to do with real hockey...but then again none of us have anything to do with "real" hockey anyway, so...

I love how our GAA is OVER 5. Which seems odd, since, you know, 5 goals ends the game.....

Should average out at the end of the season though.

Besides, it's the same for everyone, so worst case scenario, everyone's numbers get a little inflated, but we aren't comparing you guys to NHL goalies, just to each other.

So it all works out. Sorta.

(I think we're open to suggestions on how to count incomplete games -- I think it creates a problem one way or the other no matter how you choose to count them)

I thought Brett said it well where he said the game counts for goalies and not for players. Equals higher PPG and lower GAA. Makes everybody happy. It's closer to accurate stats than the other way, which creates impossible numbers.

It's not necessarily an insignificant difference, especially if someone only plays a few times. In the case of Elliot, this is the only time he's played net all year, and it's entirely plausible that he won't again this year, which means he would end the year with a literally impossible number.

I suppose I could add the game to each goalie's stat line...it just would require more effort to adjust my system because I use a series of checks and balances to cross-reference stats across each line to make sure there are no discrepancies (e.g. If I had 3 games played for all players and only 2 games played for all goalies, I would know that a game was not added correctly to their stat line)

I'll see about fixing that later, but like I said, that will require me to refactor a few automated checks so I'll get around to it when I have time.
