2017 H.C. POWER RANKINGS

It's All About The Auction

20 Brendon - Didn't provide as much offense as JB had hoped for. Just 1 goal in the playoffs would have been the difference. Getting a shot off in the shoot out would have been nice, especially after Brett specifically said "make sure you at least get a shot", he just didn't have it in him.

19 Demaio - Neither did Mike.

18 Fichera - Still just a "raw talent". I mean like "just killed the cow raw". I mean like "just killed the cow raw, but the cow was pretty sickly so we don't even know if we can use the meat from its diseased body" raw. Had a goal in the playoffs.

17 Ward - What could he have done differently on that penalty shot?

16 Melo - He turned up his play come playoff time and did a decent job as Ron and Scott and Iggy were teeing off from everywhere.

15 Iggy - When I think Iggy, I think Claude Lemieux. A player who latches on to the powerhouse team and takes all the credit when they win.

14 Jeremy - He knows how to play hockey, but he was just too tentative. Nothing like he was down in Florida year 1. Remember that one handed goal he scored in Florida that didn't count? That was awesome.

13 Zack - He actually played pretty well with Jared and if they had a healthy Ward, I think they could have done some damage on Saturday. His shot is much improved from his rookie Haverhill Cup year and you can't put a price on someone who cares way too much about the game.

12 Johnny - Didn't really have to do much except stay in the net. He's like Cory Crawford. He plays pretty well but doesn't get much credit because he has a great team around him.

11 Joe - That one shift where he blocked 4 shots in a row from the same person was pretty funny to watch and sums up joes value to a team. He'll jump into the play as well to provide some offensive pop. The more I look at Jared's team the more I think they could've gone to the finals if they had a full roster. Teams with only 4 players have never won a game in the HC playoffs.

10 Billy - A lot was riding on Billy's play this year. With Borges being the only offense, Billy was going to have to be a shut down defenseman and he was. He blocked shots, broke up odd man rushes and kept the play going forward.

9 Brett - He was the better goalie against 95 percent of the players. But as soon Griff got the ball, you could actually hear and smell him lose control of his bowels.

8 Dave - The day was just too long for Dave, not to mention that Brett wouldn't share his granola bar with him. So that made Dave tired and hungry. Not a good combination.

7 Griff - How many more tricks can he possibly pull out of his bag? I think griff had 50 percent of the goals scored on Brett. Not a bad day for the worst day of the year.

6 Jared - The finals just aren't the same without Jared in them. Someone to really root against. There's no denying he gave it all he had. It just wasn't even close to being enough. He did get to watch more of the bruins game than anyone else.

5 Drew - It was a crime how cheap drew went for in the auction. A gross miscalculation of his worth by 3 of the 4 captains. That goal where he picked the corner glove side on Dave was a thing of beauty.

4 JB - I think it was the giant Italian sub from the gas station that ultimately did him in.

3 Nick - Too much defense doesn't win in the HC. You can never have enough offense.

2 Scott - Was a perfect compliment to ron. Played great defensively and that game winner vs Jared's team was clutch with only seconds remaining. Again, grossly undervalued by the other 3 captains in the auction.

1 Ron - What's left to say? This living legend continues to beat the odds in a young mans game. He says he's done, but that would be a shame if he left before winning his 5th cup and becoming the first dynasty in HC history. Yes you need to win 5 in a row to be a dynasty. It would also be a shame because we wouldn't have enough players to play next year if he doesn't.

I have the stats but I can't post them in here because I need a new post in order for the tables to work.

I don't want to bury this thread below my new post so I'll give it a day or so before I post them.

No one cares about the rankings. Stats are more important.

Alright I'll post them at lunch then.

Amazing and hilarious power rankings of the cup. So good, so good. Nothing like not being on the site for a year and coming back to Gold!

"Teams with only 4 players have never won a game in the HC playoffs."

False. Is this a CNN report?

My team won a playoff game last year (thus surpassing expectations, obviously)

You won a play in game not a play off game

I completely disagree with my ranking and the reasons behind it. I single handidly carried 4 other players on my back and carries them to a victory... 3 in a row people, 100% winning percentage for every Haverhill cup I have played in. You call it a coincidence?? I call it Destiny.... who wants the name on the cup next year?? JB? Well save your draft dollars because next year my demand will be going threw the roof..

The Claude Lemieux analogy was fantastic. Except I believe Claude was actually pretty good...

Lemieux had a reputation as one of the league's dirtiest players though.

Nick, I am pretty sure or last game last year was the third game of the series

Billy Thomas said...

That is correct John. We lost to JB's team in 3 games. So we, in fact, did win a playoff game.

Prove it

Iggy I don't believe in coincidences! Gear up to be on my team next year because I will sell the farm to get you. And if you do lead me to a cup championship, you will cement yourself as the greatest of all time. Even surpassing the king himself. Ron.

I clearly have to jump ship from Ron. Each year he wins with me and wants all the glory... next year I fly solo and spread my wings..

Why do I get the feeling next year it will be me, Nick, Iggy and John F with a cardboard cutout for a goalie in net?

Billy Thomas said...

Brett, just go to the Haverhill Cup stats from last year. April 25, 2016 to be exact.

It clearly shows Nick's team playing in 3 playoff games. It was Nick, Johnny, and I against JB'S team. We lost 2 games to 1.

I have the same thoughts as Billy. Just so someone will be in agreement with me for once.

3 games includes the New Bedford game. Which was a play in not play off

John said...

I'm too sick to look it up this morning but I believe e lost to Jb in a shoutout for game one, win game two, and lost the last one on a deflected shot in the last seconds.

John said...

Stupid auto correct. Shoot out in game one

Tequila Mockingbird said...

John, that's correct. I believe I had a shootout goal in that one...

Brett said...

When you say lost on a deflected shot, you actually mean lost because Nick hit the ball into his own net.

Tequila Mockingbird said...

It was a great play by Nick.

John said...

Yes, I was trying to be nice.

Tequila Mockingbird said...

since when has anyone on this site tried to be nice?
