Big Board

2 comments:
The alliance took their talents to the softball field in hopes there's a chance we can be halfway decent at something.  We are not.

Here are the year end rankings, on we go!

15. Adam Leonard - Feels like a distant memory, but yes he did in fact play.  Got hurt immediately and was otherwise a complete waste of time

14. Johnny Riley- Hey he got on the rankings, thanks for subbing in.  I can't imagine you made a huge impact either way but who knows?

13. S Diego - Was supposed to be our ringer, I can' t remember if he played 1 game or 7 but his ability to play short stop with a child's size glove was poor.  Just one home run would've vaulted him into the top 10.

12. Tommy B - Playing second cut off got old quickly.  Had a lot of restrictions on where everyone was allowed to throw the ball.  Throwing it home is fun, leave us alone.

11.  Scott - I can't in good conscience put Scott in the top 10.  Fantastic regular season.  His playoff performance was, confusing/disturbing.  Worse of all, he refused to get off when a pinch runner was called for him, after all Griff has done for us.

10. Zack - Zack is a really good golfer

9. Canales - He didn't even know we were in the finals and who drives an hour just to try to walk every at bat?  Why is he even this high?  Ugh

8. Iggy - Participation was way down this year.  Never attempted to catch a ball at catcher, chose instead to let each pitch smash the ump in the shin.

7. Brett - Lost interest and no-showed a playoff game.  Then made a worse decision by staying for the finals.  Should've just went out on a high note after that walk off hit.

6. Nick - Remember that night a couple years ago Nick hit like 50 home runs and everybody thought he was the coolest?  You'll always have that night Nick, cherish it.

5. Vinny - Vinny made the top 5 people...Vinny.  He was a pitcher and got pinch ran for a lot.  I don't know what else to say.

4. Borges - Made the dreaded last out, also as i'm typing this the memory of you coming in to pitch and walking 15 straight batters is coming back.  Had a nice excuse ready for when everyone in the infield made an error on virtually every ball hit at them.

3 - Jared - I don't know how the outfield made all those catches but props to them.  Led the team in pickles and was overall a bad influence in the clubhouse.

2 - Petzold - Has his priorities straight and knows it's always Alliance first, family 2nd.  I could criticize him for dropping a fly ball but it wasn't his glove and big board loves excuses.

1 - Griff - Dealt with a horrible group of below average athletes and his own weekly chest pains to will the alliance to the finals, in the lower division.

WEEKLY POWER RANKINGS

11-11-17

Who Is Moe?

10 Billy T - Its tough in a tournament where everyone played well and made the finals, to find a reason for someone to be in the 10th spot. Thankfully, that wasn't the case Saturday. Only having 3 D is tough I'm sure, but there were just too many times where the other team caught him flat footed.

9 Johnny - I think it's only fair that we blame Johnnys facial lacerations as the reason for his telegraphed, behind the back, no look passes up the middle to the other team.

8 Derek - How good was Derek? He had a brutal give away in game 1 that led to a goal. He abandoned the team game 3. And tried to be a hero game 1 playoffs by jumping up to offense on every shift in the first period to try and score on an empty net which messed the rest of the lines up. But most disappointing of all was his loss of faith in Griff. Especially when all he does every game is puff everyone up.

7 Griff - "The Shift" shifts are becoming few and far in between. But give him credit for going out 89% of the time when Jared called for a sub.

6 Ron - There's no doubt that Ron is still a weapon for the Alliance. The problem most likely lies with the line combinations, but you can't blame Jared for expecting Ron to carry line 2 after what he did in the HC. At the end of the day, 1 goal just didn't meet expectations.

5 Borges - Dominant in the circle all day and was probably runner up for MVP since he scored on the MVP. He doesn't beat you with speed or with skill. He just beats you.

4 Nick - He really is impressive back there on defense. Even his ankle slashes have become famous in Dracut. He's relentless and determined on defense and when he plays that well, the offensive deficiencies become a fading thought in the mind of WPR.

3 Dave - He maybe had 2 or 3 really tough saves; saves he shouldn't have made. But for the first time in a long time, the alliance got something out of a goalie that they rarely ever get, someone who doesn't give up that back breaking goal. The shot from half ice that goes in on Kenny. The shot that goes 10 feet wide and comes out the other side that tony is slow to react to. Dave gave the Alliance a great performance.

2 Jared - He'll never not be the top goal scorer in a tournament for the Alliance. His forechecking was oppressive to the other teams and resulted in more than a couple goals. The only knock on him is that he isnt nearly detail oriented enough. Once he learns how to relay information better he'll go down as one of the best Alliance players/GMs in history.

1 Brett - They must have been cheering for him for some reason. You don't just get a whole bleacher section cheering your pad color and giving you free Busch beer for nothing. His goal production was a nice bonus this time around as was his ankle not folding over 7 minutes into the day. But it just comes down to his failed penalty shot looking just a little better than Jared's failed penalty shot.

Too Hot to Handle, Too Cold to Hold

Ever have one of those nights when the ball just isn't bouncing your way? Hopping over the stick? Not getting enough on that pass? Hitting the post on every shot?
Yep. That was us. Just couldn't find the handle on so many great opportunities. We definitely has chances, but just couldn't cash in.
Felt like we doubled up the white team on SOG. Maybe that's just me. Hate to see what our shooting percentage would have been.
It's best not to think about it...
