WEEKLY POWER RANKINGS

11-11-17

Who Is Moe?

10 Billy T - Its tough in a tournament where everyone played well and made the finals, to find a reason for someone to be in the 10th spot. Thankfully, that wasn't the case Saturday. Only having 3 D is tough I'm sure, but there were just too many times where the other team caught him flat footed.

9 Johnny - I think it's only fair that we blame Johnnys facial lacerations as the reason for his telegraphed, behind the back, no look passes up the middle to the other team.

8 Derek - How good was Derek? He had a brutal give away in game 1 that led to a goal. He abandoned the team game 3. And tried to be a hero game 1 playoffs by jumping up to offense on every shift in the first period to try and score on an empty net which messed the rest of the lines up. But most disappointing of all was his loss of faith in Griff. Especially when all he does every game is puff everyone up.

7 Griff - "The Shift" shifts are becoming few and far in between. But give him credit for going out 89% of the time when Jared called for a sub.

6 Ron - There's no doubt that Ron is still a weapon for the Alliance. The problem most likely lies with the line combinations, but you can't blame Jared for expecting Ron to carry line 2 after what he did in the HC. At the end of the day, 1 goal just didn't meet expectations.

5 Borges - Dominant in the circle all day and was probably runner up for MVP since he scored on the MVP. He doesn't beat you with speed or with skill. He just beats you.

4 Nick - He really is impressive back there on defense. Even his ankle slashes have become famous in Dracut. He's relentless and determined on defense and when he plays that well, the offensive deficiencies become a fading thought in the mind of WPR.

3 Dave - He maybe had 2 or 3 really tough saves; saves he shouldn't have made. But for the first time in a long time, the alliance got something out of a goalie that they rarely ever get, someone who doesn't give up that back breaking goal. The shot from half ice that goes in on Kenny. The shot that goes 10 feet wide and comes out the other side that tony is slow to react to. Dave gave the Alliance a great performance.

2 Jared - He'll never not be the top goal scorer in a tournament for the Alliance. His forechecking was oppressive to the other teams and resulted in more than a couple goals. The only knock on him is that he isnt nearly detail oriented enough. Once he learns how to relay information better he'll go down as one of the best Alliance players/GMs in history.

1 Brett - They must have been cheering for him for some reason. You don't just get a whole bleacher section cheering your pad color and giving you free Busch beer for nothing. His goal production was a nice bonus this time around as was his ankle not folding over 7 minutes into the day. But it just comes down to his failed penalty shot looking just a little better than Jared's failed penalty shot.
