So many storylines for this week...Andrew in net (Yes, ANDREW, not Elliott), concussions, bad backs, a game that almost wasn't played...but the story of the night has to be the return of JB, Elliott and Brett who decided to grace us with their presence finally.
The -- Return of the JEBBI -- if you will. No? Alright fine, YOU come up with something better then. I double dog dare you. Ok, moving on:
The night started with what looked like an unbalanced team on paper, but you know, it almost never shakes out the way that it seems. Of course the first game DID end up going that way, 5-1 in an ugly loss for the Dark team. Brett was awful. I don't even know why he tries. Elliott looked like he picked up right where he left off but probably had a little rust, too. Wait til you get married, kid. The rust will pile up like you won't believe.
Elliott says this might be the only time we see him this side of his wedding date. We'll see. But it won't get much easier afterwards so my advice to you is play the most weeks you can til March cuz we might not see you again til next fall.
Andrew played pretty well for his first time in net at Saugus (he has played elsewhere before), but I couldn't tell if he played well or if my shooting was just that bad....probably a little from column A and a little from column B. Get well Lee. We now have an on-field spotter for CTE. Also JB was there.
Anywhoo...After a game 1 stomping, Johnny decided to (shocker) sit to start game 2. The only problem was he didn't have an ergonomic chair to support him and threw his back out. The old injury bug bites him again. Get well Johnny. We need you to make the games interesting because Jared, JB, Brett and Elliott have less than 0.01% chance of showing up again before the HC.
Speaking of the HC, is the bad back status going to affect the bidding this time around on last year's Haverhill Cup MVP? Hmmmm. Some old Fantasy Football debates are starting to swirl in my head. "He's a year older and more injury prone", "Yeah, but so is so-and-so and he played well last year", "What will you do if you invest all that draft capital and he ends up not playing?"...
Finally some real controversy! And not that made-up Jared-like controversy, either. Speaking of Jared, hope all goes well during your surgery today. I was hoping to be there in your hospital room when you wake up after. You know, to support you and to wave the score sheet in your face as you see how many people passed you in points. That sort of thing.
But I had to work today. Oh well, there's always next year's knee surgery...
So now here's some good news/bad news for everyone. And by everyone I mean everyone that I want to have fun with.
Good News for Jared: Andrew played net so he did not gain any ground in the points race.
Bad News for Jared: Brett started gaining ground on Jared in the points race.
Good News for Jared: Brett will likely only play twice more this year.
Bad News for Jared: Brett can probably pass him in those two games.
Bad News for Andrew: He just volunteered to be a HC Goalie.
Good News for Andrew: He's already the second-ranked HC goalie.
Bad News for everyone: We still need prob two more goalies unless Jack and the New Bedford kid actually play net (doubtful)....
Good News for everyone: There will be another HC Draft this year with auction bidding that is sure to be unpredictable and amazing.
Bad News for everyone: It's a draft full of talent-less bums who can't hit the broad side of a barn.
Good News for everyone: There will be beer. That makes up for all the aforementioned. As Bart Scott says: "CANT WAIT!"

John played 2 games not 1
What ever happened to the stat sheet picture being posted every week?
How much of the second game did he actually play? Did he get any ice time? I feel like he started on the bench and never made it out....did he actually play? I wouldn’t count that game against him. But whether he chooses to count it or not is a different story. Something tells me he won’t be counting the entire week anyway...
And I can send the stat sheet to whoever wants to see it but I closed the account I used to use for hosting images, so I’d have to find yet another image hosting site and create an account. Yawn.
You can just post it in a thread
John played in game 2. He was behind our net when he lost a puck battle to mini meat and decided to throw in the towel.
Ok, I’ll update it...not like it matters...
