Career Stats Page
You may or my not have noticed this but we are experiencing technical difficulty with the Career Stats page so it will be temporally down until the problem is fixed.

I hope that paper copies of the stats exist. It would be very interesting if the fixed career stats page had different numbers. Hmmmmmm...
Its funny that Brendon stupid smile jumps over to the next line....well for one, we have the stats from the first season here on the site and the stats from this year on too. So do you think it would be hard to just combine them, Brendon? We have the stats on a database as well. There is just a problem with the HTML, it still cant find the problem so that is why it is still down.
I think it's good that the stats page is gone. Forget fixing it, let's reset it.
The biggest problem is that the games are not timed. If the games were, say 30 minutes, the stats like PPG and GAA would be accurate like they should be.
The whole point of stats is to have an accurate set of data from which analysis can be made.
So, reset the stats, make the games 30 min., and get rid of stats like win% for position players.
"it doesn't matter if a game is 1/2 and hour or 2 hours"
Really?
As Brett noted earlier, the untimed game penalizes the goalies. The game cannot end until there is failure at one of the goaltender positions.
Position players love it because someone has to score.
I think to get serious about Florida, the games should be timed.
The problem might be that some people are a little too proud of their past stats and get upset when you question the "integrity" of them. To them it would be unthinkable to reset the stats and start anew.
But really, it's time to stop scoring these games like volleyball and stop pretending the stats are accurate.
Here's why statistics aren't accurate in untimed games:
If player "A" plays in a league that has 60 minute games, scores 10points in 10 games, his points per game is 1.00. If he plays 20 minutes per game, he averages about 0.050 points per minute played.
If, player "B" in an untimed game league, scores 10 points in 10 games, his points per game is also 1.00. But now, let's say his minutes went this way: 20, 35, 15, 20, 45, 20, 30, 40, 20, 25. His points per minutes played is about 0.037.
Now to compare that to player "A", multiply 0.037 by 20(minutes) and you get 0.74 points per game.
That doesn't seem like a big difference, but it was pretty close to the difference between Eric Staal (1.00 PPG) and Radim Vrbata (0.74 PPG) in scoring this year!
You should keep all of the old stats and call them "historic", then say that June 2008 is the beginning of the "modern" stats. Then for the ones that may throw a fit because they aren't up there in the catagories anymore, have a third section that combines historic and modern for "all-time" stats.
If the games in Florida weren't timed, then it wouldn't matter, but since there is actually something to play for, it would probably be in everyones' best interest to have an accurate stat sheet to help form good lines and correctly measure performance.
I've only got a second to post right now, but for regular playing in Saugus I don't know if everyone would want to change the way we do things - some people just want to go and play and don't care one bit about the stats. We've been playing there over 5 years and have always just played up till 5. That's just how people have liked to play it. For the fall time we can see what people like and if they want to change it up.
For the spring we'll probably only play and record stats for a couple of more weeks (we typically play a couple of weeks into June). After that some of the people drop off, and the focus is going to shift into preparing for Florida. During that time we can change how we play the games if it can help us practice, and help us with lines, etc.

I'm going to have to start posting voice messages...it will be a lot harder for you to misquote me!
BTW, in case anyone didn't know we're not playing tomorrow night since we're at our convention right now and Hockeytown will be closed tomorrow night for Memorial Day weekend...I think I told everyone but I just want to confirm.

Hmmmmmm...
Brett - 35.67 GAA
Eric - 2 pts
Johnny - 265 pts

I have a database that stores everything, and have a program that can generate the HTML whenever we need it, so not to worry.

If a whistle was used on line changes on a thirty minute game, think of how efficiently lines would function.
why wouldn't they be accurate? There is still only 9 goals possible in each game, it doesn't matter if a game is 1/2 and hour or 2 hours..
IF A GOALIE LOSES he automatically get a 5 gaa. not fair to goalies.
it's why the nhl has timed games.
it'll be more fair than just stopping at 5
games could be 2-1 or 10-1
more real is what we're going for
up to five is how five year old play.
Half hour games might make everyone show up on time too.
gives us 3 games a night at least

IF THE GAMES AREN'T TAKEN SERIOUSLY, THEN A SCENE LIKE THIS MAY TAKE PLACE...
Center: "Hey, dude, what gives?"
Defenceman: "What, wuz up?"
Center: "I went into the corner to get the puck, and you hit my foot a little bit."
Defenceman: "I was just trying to get the puck."
Center: "Yeah, but you saw me, I was closer to it than you. When that happens, you should back off."
Defenceman: "It was just an accident, bro. Relax!"
Center: "No, you relax! What if you broke one of my toes? That would be 2 weeks that I wouldn't be able to ride my bike to Filene's Basement!"
Defenceman: (starting to cry) "Aww man, I didn't even think of that."
Center: (also crying) "I know. You forgot how much I love to buy clothes."
Defenceman: (sniffiling) "I wasn't even thinking. I forgot to tell you that the Finding Nemo shirt that you wore last week was pretty sharp."
Center: "That means a lot to me."
Defenceman: "Friendship hug?"
Center: "Friendship hug."
Defenseman: "Guys...Guys! Time out for a second." (hug)
what the . . . . . ?
I'm just saying, It could happen.
"We've been playing there over 5 years and have always just played up till 5...change it up...the focus is going to shift into preparing for Florida...we can change how we play the games"
Okay, sounds good.
"yeah...get ready for FL...we can start...time them...how efficient we are"
