I want to see who people think will be the MVP of the tournament. I want a poll for 3 stars of the tournament (might need a poll for 1st star, another for 2nd and 3rd). Open the polls now for everyone to vote on.
At the conclusion of the weekend, the team can select the MVP and 3 stars of the tournament. And I'd like to see some challenges made like this...
Can JB outplay Jared for the MVP award? Can Jared outplay Ron for the MVP? I say NO to both questions, meaning someone else will win it
Can Nick contribute enough to be one of the 3 stars of the tourney? I say maybe, but will have to make more than the famous "Pass" of yesteryear.
Can Brett play well enough be the 1st star and tourney MVP? Would take a regular season GAA of say under 3.00 and a playoff GAA of just over 2.00 and at least a shutout and a 1 goal game maybe two.
In order to make some noise in this thing, both Griff and Ward need to contribute more than 2 or 3 points in the regular season and need to both score in the playoffs. Can they do it?
If we don't have a good enough record to qualify for the playoffs, and then in the playoffs AT LEAST GET INTO THE SEMI-FINALS then heads are gonna roll.
We know what to expect. Decent talent but not overwhelming better then we are. We know we can compete. It's just a question to bring on our best game from start to finish... not in the last 3 minutes when we're behind by a goal.
And I like Jared's call to go out together on Thursday night before we leave Friday morning. People can power up as much as they want Thursday night and have 'the all day drive on Friday' to get ready for a semi light Friday night heading into Saturdays action
And as a side note, looking over at the bench and seeing me on the sideline two seconds away from benching you and taking your place should push you to new limits!!
Is Ignads allowed to throw sticks to us if we break them. And is he required to drink half his body weight in ounces. If so between me griff and him that a lot of water.
Heard back from the dude about lights. The timer is not working and it needs to be replaced. No time table except it will get on the State Parks to do list.
The guy just said it will take a while.
So maybe we can play Saturday beginning at 5:00 or something like that
Jb and griff are in too. I would assume Billy and mike d, and Brendon. Goalie wise its not looking too good tho. Steve and Joe can't play, and Melo said as of now he can't play. Kazes said that he would, but with Brett out someone will need to work on either Tony or Melo.
The guy from the city who coordinates things said there is a carnival this weekend at that park on Market street in Lawrence. He said it would not be a good weekend to play hockey there.
So it looks like Riverfront park is the only option when there is daylight.

This will be a bad week to play there because there is a carnival going on at the baseball fields and the place will be packed, you can park on the street next to the rink.
Yeah. We can't get a rink until really late, so we are going to play at the same Lawrence rink as last time and start at 7:00 to play for an hour and a half, or basically the same amount of time as last week.

I was lights out. Cant wait for the stats to be posted.
I want at least 2 polls setup for Playon

I think a good team challenge would be to not go 0 and 3. Aim low and you'll never be disappointed
I did send jared packing with only two goals to his credit last Sunday. So i feel I'm ready, physically and mentally for Ottawa.
Polls are good! Be so long since we had one. Set it up Nick!!

And Jared, what are you going to make sure you don't under perform like you did in the Haverhill Cup?
Muscle pulls/craps are not an excuse!
All of you guys should heed this wise advice...
Drink lots of water each day to equal half your body weight in ounces
So if your tipping the scale at 256 Lbs. That means 128 ounces of water or a 1 gallon jug.
And for you wise guys, a 12 pack of bud light per day doesn't pass the pee testing that just might be imposed.
"Decent talent but not overwhelming".......what a perfect description of our team.
Hey our team overachieved right Nick!
And having the craps is no joke when trying to play hockey.
New official lines that will change many more times.
Line 1; Jared (wing), JB (c), Nick (D)
Line 2; Ward (Wing), Ron (C), Griff (D)
Remember this is not a democracy and your opinions don't matter to me.
Haha ok well I didn't know it until you said it. Bur ya trying to run around playing hockey with the craps is not a recipe for success.
But Jared, good to know your gluteus maximus muscles are strong!
But where was the heart? You have to power through the craps to get to the promised land.
We expect nothing short of circa 2012 (or whenever it was when you were at the pinnacle of your game)
And as a side note, looking over at the bench and seeing me on the sideline two seconds away from benching you and taking your place should push you to new limits!!

Everyone reaches their pinnacle at different ages Ron. I was normal and peaked at 25, Ron at 50, borges was 14, and Nick never will.
I think you phrased that statement wrong Jared... it should of went something like this:
Everyone reaches their pinnacle at different ages, well except Nick
Ok I found out the state park official DID set the lights to go on last Sunday night. Ahhh FAIL!!!
They are going to investigate and maybe have to send an electrician to check the wiring system.
The guy from the City Rec Dept thinks it shouldn't take long to figure out.
He will contact me when he hears from the guy from the state parks dept.

I actually can't do Saturday this week unless it's early afternoon. I could also do Friday after work.
Ok we can get the other one in Lawrence for this Sunday night if that what works.
I will have to go get the key to the fence. This is NOT milk street in Metheun. It's the one on Market Street in Lawrence.
It's close to a full size rink so we would need 10 guys and goalies.
People need to commit by tomorrow AM so I have time to get the permit and key (it's $50)
And why am I doing all this back and forth? I didn't give up hockey8 in Action so that I can take on this pain in the butt situation.
Where is Brendon? Can we get him back on this site and play nice with him?
ron, ill be there.
Cant make it this weekend
Me and Ward are in, can we get two other goalies Johnny?
Jb and griff are in too. I would assume Billy and mike d, and Brendon. Goalie wise its not looking too good tho. Steve and Joe can't play, and Melo said as of now he can't play. Kazes said that he would, but with Brett out someone will need to work on either Tony or Melo.
don't worry everyone, Brett is back in. He can't miss a goalie showdown vs Kazes

Ron, that festival will still going on by Sunday night?
If Sunday doesn't work out then Saturday at 1:30 works out for me, but we have to make sure we can still get goalies.
When's everyones meeting? Could we do Sunday 1-3 or 2-4. We could just do Saugus sunday night.
Did they say we can't play there Ron or it wouldn't be a good idea? I don't even know what that means.

Yeah, our meeting is from 5-6:45; that's why if we play on Sunday it has to be later.
As promised, I finally got back to working on stats this week. There is a separate page for the two weeks of Lawrence street hockey stats so far.
I will start working on the Saugus stats next week and try to keep Lawrence up-to-date at the same time.
Mike D and I can only play on Sunday. Mike is away and I have plans on Sat.
Ok, so our options are definitely limited to Sunday then. Should we try that other park in Lawrence?
Which one, the one on Market street where that carnival is going on? That has a 8 foot fence around it and you need key to get in.
Sunday is no good for me. Sorry jared, our plan would only work for saturday.
Can anyone play right now??
When / where we playing
I don't know if we are. Even if we tried Saugus we only have Kazes in net since Brett can't play
We r playing, I booked saugus 8-10 tomorrow
Does anyone notice that since Jared has gone to Amesbury Hall he is much more desperate?
Roster update?
Cant wait to see the awesome new shirts that griffs been working hard on
We have me, Ward, billy, Demaio, Johnny, Andrew, Elliot, Brendon, griff, JB, Nick. hopefully Ron and Ignads. Melo and Kazes in net
I'm bringing Devin and maybe Peduto.
Anyone missing a stick after tonight?
Griff is but I think its just lodged in Jonnys chest..
Is there more to that comment from iggy?
I was serious though, someone left a stick behind last night. It's a lefty so it's useless to me. I guess I could sell it on craigslist.
it could be me...Iis it red? ll have to check my truck.
The only lefties last night were me, billy and Jb.
Griff broke his stick and then threw it over the boards but it didn't quite make it...
I think it was red
Red with green tape.
Think that's nicks
I have an old hat for sale...
yeah thats mine.
Thanks for grabbing it Melo.
You better show up next week! :)
We playing in lawrence this weekend?
I think so. I think we can do Sunday night even if it's in the other rink in Lawrence
Still no lights at Riverfront (Haverhill cup site). So if we play the outside at night it needs to be on Market St.
I guess its full size so don't know if people just wanna play in Saugus instead.
Need to decide either way, because for Lawreance it must be setup and paid by Friday
Steve said that he's in for Sunday. I don't mind whichever rink, although it's supposed to be nice so maybe Lawrence would be better this week?
The guy is sending a city electrician to the Market street park tomorrow to check that the lights work. He will update me tomorrow
Sounds good. So let's plan Lawrence either way. If we can't get the first park because of the lights then we can play in the other one.
Brett, are you in for the other goalie?
Lights at Haverhill cup sight are already known to be not working.
Lights at other park (on Market St) might also me dead... but the guy said the city controls that park and should have them working.
Ok, I misunderstood. Market Street is the bigger rink then.
Ya im in
What time
7:15 or so? Our meeting is out at 6:45
Market St Lawrence is OUT this week.
I guess they has a skating rink setup there over the winter and put down a bed of sand to level it out. The sand is still in there.
They are sending a crew to remove the sand on Monday.
But he told me the lights work
So Saugus again if it's available... or 6-8 at haverhill cup park.
It's out of my hands now. I'll wait to here what's what from people.
i know we ideally want outside but with our meeting time we will get about 30 mins of game time.
Id rather Saugus
I think all would agree that playing for a full 2 hours will help everyone's game... well except for Nick
Johnny....time to book Saugus...
Why do people hate Saturday nights for hockey?
I don't mind Saturday night, but if we were to play tonight it would have to be late for me to make - probably 9 or 10.
Hard to believe after looking at the street hockey's stats, that Johnny has yet to win a playoff series in the H.C.
Yeah, forget series, I don't think I've won a game.
We playing tonight? If so, when and where??
Yeah. We can't get a rink until really late, so we are going to play at the same Lawrence rink as last time and start at 7:00 to play for an hour and a half, or basically the same amount of time as last week.
Just in case I will recheck with Saugus when I get home from service, but if nothing else is posted it's Lawrence at 7:00
I'll be there at 6:30 we have enough for 3 on 3 until Salem shows up
