Recap and Stats
Recap and stats should be up around 8 pm Monday Night.
Great first week everyone.
Anyone else enjoying the instant updates? Its like twitter...
(I'm now out of characters)
5 Chris Y - was a big surprise to the start of the season as his D was what held the white team at bay for the first game of the night just long enough for the Dark team to come back and get the win. Game 2 he played good too.
4 Ron - His long awaited return was . . . . a little bit of a let down. but not by much. He still has a wicked shot and still controls the play like he use to. I was just expecting him to take over the game with 1000 points. I'll say next week he's #1 star. (hope he plays next week)
3 Jared - He seemed to improve his team picking abilities over the summer as for the first time there were some players to make up some even teams. Jared even continued playing after his top 2 picks had to leave. And not 1 spin-o-rama to kick things off this year.
2 JR - Did JR pick Griff or did Jared? Either way, bottom line is Johnny scored goals. And even set some up. He even batted one out of mid air montreal style. And his team didn't give up even when down 4-1 in game 2 as he led them to victory.
1 Brett - Showed why he is still worthy of the #1 pick. Brett took control of game 1 with 3 goals and an assist. But even though he was held to one point in game 2 it's understandable. Brett tells me Ariel is doing fine but she's in alot of pain obviously. So Ariel gets to share the 1 spot for letting Brett play hockey.
Will we ever learn how to get the ball out of the zone Matt S, Dale, Brad?
Brett didn't even have to score a single goal and he'd still have the number one spot just for being there last night. Played fantastic last night as well.
The stats are done and Nick should be posting them tonight. Some surprises in there too. Ron is the scoring leader right now with 10 points (8 goals). Griff is in 4th place, and is also the Assist leader.
Those were some well-played games last night, especially for the first week. Goaltending on both sides was solid. I echo WPR in regard to Chris - and he even got into the offense. For our team Shane and Danny continued to improve...they might not be able to make it too much because of their schedule, but if they ARE able to show up more often they can be very good by the end of the year.
WPR has come to be what some would call somewhat biased. That's why we need a new ranking system, one which not only picks the top 3 each week, but also the bottom 3.
After all, WPR would be the first to agree that it's all about learning from your mistakes so you can improve your game. So why not showcase the weakest players as well as the things that they need to work on?
Corrected Weekly Power Rankings
Top 3:
3 Jared - Played solid offensively. Defensively, well, you know who you are - you're an offenseman who is bad at defense.
2 JR - No complaints here. After a rocky start, JR showed his team that he didn't come to lose by helping grab three straight wins. -1 point for not picking Griff. He ended up with him after some debate, but sometimes even blind squirrels find nuts.
1 Ron - Led in scoring, single-handedly beat Jim routinely. Raised his game to help take control of each of the last three games. Ron is working hard to make sure his son will never be better than him in hockey - even when he's 75.
Bottom 3:
3 Brad - I don't need to exaplain what it means to get it out of the zone, do I?
2 Jim C - Didn't hold up when his team was ahead. Gave way to pressure and let up some really soft goals. Can you say Swiss Cheese? Cuz that's your new nickname.
1 Brett - Left his team when they needed him the most and his team lost the rest of the games. Not a team player. You need to work on that. Where are your priorities at anyway?
Little Bo peep has lost her sheep So she decided to watch us play hockey Jared was pushed down but never lost ground As he pounded the net with fury He twisted N’ turned, shaked N’ baked No need for a judge and jury
But when Brett had to go he left Jared with no ammo And poor Jared cried aloud and went boohoo He could score no more because he was thrown the floor Poor Jared had no more swagger No need to fear, next week will soon be here And Jared can be a sandbagger
This ode is lame but I have more of the same So comment with puns and pleasure Hockey is back, and so I’ll attack The players with skills we all treasure.
Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pal of water. The well was dry, so off they fly… Wow, Ron was back with his shot on track But huffing and puffing he was. With gas in the tank, he’s money in the bank But an injury is sure to come. What will it be, let me see, a groin, ankle or a knee. He’s 43, but as tough as a tree No need to worry or fret Next week should he play or stay away Only time will tell If I had to guess, I’d say yes Go ahead and plan for his best Put the old timer to the test

i love brett
does wpr know what happened after brett left? because Ron deserves the number one spot this week.
He not only led in points but he also carried his team at times. Played much better overall than brett IMO.
Not saying that wpr is biased but -
yes. yes I am. yes I am saying that WPR is indeed biased. I hear the wind of change blowing

This is an ode to, “Poor Jared”
Little Bo peep has lost her sheep
So she decided to watch us play hockey
Jared was pushed down but never lost ground
As he pounded the net with fury
He twisted N’ turned, shaked N’ baked
No need for a judge and jury
But when Brett had to go he left Jared with no ammo
And poor Jared cried aloud and went boohoo
He could score no more because he was thrown the floor
Poor Jared had no more swagger
No need to fear, next week will soon be here
And Jared can be a sandbagger
This ode is lame but I have more of the same
So comment with puns and pleasure
Hockey is back, and so I’ll attack

rofl
i think ron is back!
Yes, Ron drew some attention on Sunday night.
Enjoy the 2nd installment of Waste of Time Rhymes
Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pal of water.
The well was dry, so off they fly…
Wow, Ron was back with his shot on track
But huffing and puffing he was.
With gas in the tank, he’s money in the bank
But an injury is sure to come.
What will it be, let me see, a groin, ankle or a knee.
He’s 43, but as tough as a tree
No need to worry or fret
Next week should he play or stay away
Only time will tell
If I had to guess, I’d say yes
Go ahead and plan for his best
Put the old timer to the test
