The teams were slightly weighed in Riley’s favor at the beginning of the night. However, Riley opened the door and welcomed Dale to his fold and from then on the balance of power proved too much to overcome for TPJ’s mix of old and young talent.
TPJ’s team notched the victory in the first game, but it was all downhill after that. From my vantage point, Johnny had the deck stacked. If they didn’t dominate, there would have been some serious crying going on.
Way to go Johnny. Enjoy your shallow victories.

Ha ha let the fun begin
Brett if you're planning on showing up, you're on a different team than Mike.
Probably not a good idea to get him aggrivated with you.
Just a thought.
But Mike's the 200th poster...
Brett, that's a silly question...my dad is always on my team!
I think the Waste of Time guy posted the 200th comment.
And Mike D, you're my hero. I know you don't do roids (anymore).
Oops my bad. Looks like the pages are split up into 2 pages because there are so many posts. That's never happened before. Mike D was indeed the 200th.
I think once we have two pages of posts it's officially time to start a new thread. Just a thought. Unless you want to go for 300.
Ron,
There's a difference between competition and competitiveness. One is about the actual game itself and the other is about the attitude displayed in the people playing.
Guys take this way too serious sometimes and my observation in the past has been that set teams only foster more competitiveness, thus ruining the fun aspect of the game. I guarantee that if you do that, you will lose people as they won't come.
At times, we have to remind ourselves that this is just a fun pickup game among brothers. I will now get off my soapbox. :)
And I do dream of being better than Bradley. Maybe one day!
I think it depends on the attitude of the people who play with us. In other circles perhaps they can't play that way because they have the wrong attitude. I don't think that any of us really care that much to let it get us upset and have problems. Most of us are just there to have fun and if it means playing with different people or the same each week, who cares? It's just a game! Besides we are willing to change it up if the set teams end up being way unbalanced, right? So what's the big deal?
To an extent we already have set teams each week. We only trade players if it makes a difference and that is pretty minimal. You would have to make the argument that having set teams from week to week would foster problems because people are holding grudges from week to week and I don't see that happening. They might get frustrated one day in particular, but as we said before, this builds comradary as you have to get used to playing with each other as teammates and learning their strengths and weaknesses. I think this can bed a very positive thing, especially when we learn to play well with our set teammates and improve our games. Playing with different teammates each week gets difficult to up your game because everyone plays different and what works for you one week doesn't work the next week. Consistency is a good thing and I think this will help all of us to raise our games to the next level.
One comment, to Lenny's point, it is simply pickup hockey, and simply for fun. We don't want a situation where there are bad feelings or guys become too focused on trying to win at all costs.
I don't think that will be a problem here though since we are pretty competetive each week and once the games are over, everybody is fine (except for Jared complaining on the website!). We also could switch teams up every month or so if needed.
Either way though, if we did decide to go with set teams and they became a problem, or take the fun away for people, then we wouldn't continue using them. I still want everyone to have a good time when they come to play.
agreed. I think there's really nothing more to talk about except which teams are the ones that we are going by? There's been a bunch listed. Maybe you should offer 3 or 4 suggested teams and then do a poll to see which ones people like the most.
I want to be on Johnnys team
well lenny if you want to be better you have to develop some competitiveness or else you'll never be better than Bradley.
No one cares enough to hold grudges. That's why we always go out after and have a beer together.
Has anyone ever not shown up cause of what someone did or said the previos week? If so then that person takes themselves too seriously.
and lenny i was just joking about the Bradley point..... you'll never be better no matter how competitive you get. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA :)
Dale has posted again! For some reason he doesn't realize i'm the only one who goes back and checks old blogs, but it's another classic. something about school girls and wanting to be passed to more.
Which post did Dale make that under tpj?
maybe johnny for once you should shoot against him. You too afraid?
Brett, not scared, in fact I almost always try to shoot against the better goalie since I like having a better challenge. The only problem is scoring against him is a little bittersweet since I want him to play well...so I'd be happy to score against him, but disappointed at the same time since it's another goal that he had to give up.
The only goalie I've seen that can be "scary" to shoot against is Dave when he's at the peak of his game - he can be the biggest difference-maker out of either team. That being said, it's probably been six or seven years since we've seen that, and we've all gotten much better since then. It'd be interesting to see Dave after 2-3 months worth of games.
and 20 to 30 pounds lighter
Well, he's definitely not in the same shape that he was before he left, but I don't know if that would have dramatically impacted how he played in net. He takes up more of the net now, but his game was built more on reflexes, not really positioning. I don't know if he lost any speed or quickness (it's possible I guess), but his reflexes were always what helped him.
