Season 4 predictions...
This thread is pretty self-explanatory...in preparation for our game this Sunday (6:30 outside rink) we can put in our predictions for the upcoming year. I'll be adding some polls around lunch time today as well. Also, let me know if anyone has ideas for any new stats they want to track this year. Sorry Steve, save % is way too hard to keep track of!

Based on an 85 game season, here are the point projections for the top 20. Obviously, these are all just guesses, and hopefully people will end up playing more than I am guessing.
1. John - 120G,66a, 186Pts, 82 Games (2.25 ppg)
2. Jared- 93G, 76a, 169Pts, 85 Games (2.0 ppg)
3. Brett- 72G, 72a, 144Pts, 65 Games (2.2 ppg)

how did you split up goals/assists as a projection? goals per game average?
I plan on breaking 50 goals this season
Even if that means going with Jareds approach and totally not playing defense.. ;-)
What I did was look at the goals per game and assists per game for each person that has played in the last 3 years. In some cases, I increased the GPG & APG to what I thought they would be (ie Nick). In some cases I decreased slightly, and others are roughly comparable. It was cool because with some of us I could look at a three-year average and see spikes from year to year, or steady progression in some cases.
I also based it on us playing 85 games, which is slightly more than last year. The hard part was guessing how many games each person would play. With some people, like Reggie, even though he says he's going to be there every week, I had to factor how many games I thought he'd actually make. Hopefully in cases like that the player actually plays much more than I am expecting.
i might be able to make the first week. Ariel is being induced on sunday at 8 or 9 if the baby doesn't get here before then. I sould be there.
Who's gonna be the odd man out when i show up this year? Jared again?

Guess whose back, back again? Big board's back tell a friend...alright so i can't rap eminem quite as good as nick, but you get the idea, the biggest best blog board beknown to bloggers is back, (see what i did there).
Who will step up this year in the ever important draft. It seemed last season Riley and TPJ couldn't quite figure the player talent as many lopsided games occured. Well BB is here to make it easier for our valued captains.
Without further adue (sp?), here is the first Board of the 09/10 season
1) J Riley- Isn't it awful that for a better part of a decade we've all claimed we are better than johnny and he can easily be stopped (or was that just me?), and then come spring time we see he killed us again in the stat sheet?
2) Jared- Can he ever put together a full season?
3) Brett- He'll certainly have a lot of ground to cover come october trying to catch Riley/Meadows in stats, but don't count him out for the overall point leader.
4) No One- going to pull a page out of brett's mean diary to show the fall off afterwards. the 5-10 players will continue to fluctuate until we get that much needed 4th guy to offset the teams.
5) Mike D- coming off a...ehem...decent tourney, mike is still the best bet for #5. the skill set is pretty much there, just needs to go rkelly on us and spread his wings.
6) Ron- BB is going to have to trust riley when he says PPP will be at saugus semi-regularly this year. If that is the case, there is certainly enough "gas in the tank", for him to show us how to run down the right side, take a snap shot, and beat steve 5 hole.
7) Griff- Really ruins hockey in so many ways, the main reason being half the time he's not trying and Jared's wasted a high pick. But for those few special weeks he's motivated for whatever reason, it's impressive.
8) Nick- He write's awesome recaps and BB laughs, so then BB feels obligated to put nick in the top 10, but not too high, cuz then nick get's annoying come sundays.
9) Joe- Some feel joe in underrated, others feel he is overrated, BB feels he is rated...yup terrible joke, moving on.
10) Brendon- Cracking top 10 BB is not a small deal. Brendon scores goals, and those will be a premium this season...i love brendon.
11) Chris- Fantastic rookie season from chris, has the three a's, attitude affort and awesomeness.
12) Dale- ok, here is a quick quote from this website that is incredible, "Nick, you are asking me if I even know what offsides is. I think I know hockey rules at least 3 times more than you do. Firstly, You weren't even born when I started playing hockey. I have played on organized ice hockey teams and floor hockey teams in high school, I coached a high school floor hockey team to a championship and I also went to Phillips Exeter Academy ice hockey school to learn the game." not sure if anyone saw that post, but there's more, i have nothing to add except this is exactly what i love about saugus hockey.
13) Reggie- look at the people i put before you reg, you should be embarrased.
14) Lee- Lee plays d, and lee rhyms with d. he also wears ice hockey pants at street hockey.
15) Billy- Typical sunday conversation when billy is there.

"cuz he hurt his knee i think"

16) Mike P- i've been writing this thing way too long
17) Bradley- why hasn't brad ever posted on this site? If he doesn't post within the next week, he will NEVER see his name posted on BB again!
18) Lenny- lenny, lenny, lenny...almost forgot about you lenny. You're probably wondering if i'm going to change this and put you in front of brad, and the answer is no, no i'm not.
19) mattyd- he may have been invited to canada to play without the team knowing.
20) Shane- or danny, not sure whose who, either way no one is probably reading anymore.

As for Brendon, I'm guessing an all or nothing from him. If he shows the first week he'll be there the rest IMO.
BTW, sorry Matt S, I forgot to include you in the projections. I'll tell you tomorrow where I would have had you projected.

BB i made it. I have finaly made it, my first post. First i like to say i will make the top 10 this year you will see. And i will be posting more often this year.
who will be the other goalie for most of the season? We should have two consistant goalies. people who are willing to play every week so that we have two options for next year in montreal. Two good goalies. Steve is acceptable as one. who's the other?

If you go by the recaps John, Brett & Jared are a given.If you go by the posts Brendon & Mike are no. Nick is on the fence, but his good recaps might get him on
It's difficult trying to narrow it down to only two goalies since there are probably 4 or 5 people who want to play net, and I want to try to keep it fair for all of them - Saugus is still just pickup hockey after all.
We have Steve, my father, Tony, Jimmy, Mike Coangelo, and now Griff who all want a shot at net. We also have Dave playing net in October.
As for Montreal, we'll have time to get a goalie this time, whether Dave, Steve, or Tony are able to do it, or we develop a goalie like Griff by then.
As for the makeup of the team, it's a long ways away to try to establish right now. Obviously though you'd want guys that have been playing all year and are in shape. We also will have one less roster spot with Brett out of net this time, so people will also have to commit early to it.
But that's a topic for another day.
i'd say mike is a maybe too. He can work on some things this year
These are my top five predictions based on my own personal feelings
1 Jared - He's sick of coming in second......or third
2 Johnny - Less Brett = less goals for johnny, and no assists as usual.
3 Mike D - Will fix his shot technique and be more accurate and quicker release.
4 Ron - will play more than 45 games (no ronnie?) and will be able to pick apart the poor goaltending (griff) more than anyone else.
5 Brendon - his emotions will get in the way of him focusing on the game at hand. And if Brett shows he might just leave. If he keeps them in check he'll climb the ladder. Will he ever play on Brett's team this year? (poll question)
