Saugus Confession of the Week

8 comments:
I hope this is the right forum. Are we amongst friends?

Tonight was a great night. I faced a good goalie. Do you know what that means?

I got to be me.

Dave saw my full arsenal of shots. Far away. Close up. Intentionally wide. Everything.

One day S might be good enough to see everything I have.

He’s definitely not ready yet though.

One day.

Maybe.

What an epic Night! One for the ages! Anyone who wasn't there yesterday will never know what an amazing week they missed!
Unfortunately, I had a little mishap with the scoresheet.
Apparently, it must have gotten stuck in the door and tore as I was leaving because when I got home I found that it was ripped in half and I only have the results of the first game we played.
Hope Johnny saved his copy that I gave him so he can get the stats from the last three games.
...I do remember that Brett had 14 points in the last three games...give or take. Pretty wild stuff. Brett jumps to a HUGE scoring lead. That has to ruffle Jared’s feathers, I'm sure.
I’ll just post the first game now and John can update the stats later with the rest.

It Was Intentional Nick

10 Brendon (-2) - Blame Demaio’s refusal to play defense for why you’re here and also blame your synapses for misfiring every time someone forechecks you and you wait until it’s too late to make a play. Almost okeydoked Brett for a goal tho which would’ve knocked Brett off of WPR completely if you scored. What could’ve been.

9 Demaio - Shadowing a player isn’t working. Neither is not scoring. And neither is passing to Jared every time you get the ball. I see a DD in his future. (Demoted to defense not drunk driving)

8 Mike M - He turned the clock back and had more energy than anyone else it seemed. Even on a night with no subs Mike kept the legs moving on the forecheck and it paid off with some nice well deserved, hard earned goals.

7 Jared (E) - Take out his lazy, effortless half-court goals and all he’s accomplished over the past month or so is that he got Drew to quit Saugus(again). Maybe drew plays these next 2 weeks with Jared out of the state. Drew could get revenge and help ruin Jared’s vacation if Jared knows there’s Saugus hockey being played without him.

6 Ward (-3) - Just couldn’t quite stuff that ball between Griff’s pads.

5 Nick (E) - He had a Game winner. I should probably stop there or else I might say something to make him retire again. The “(E)” stands for eggshells. Eggshells Burton. Cant criticize him too much. If he misses next week the E might turn to a D for Drew Burton.

4 Borges (+2) - Was the calming presence the white team needed with Brett getting all hot and bothered over a play that happens 7 times a game. Johnny can you generate a stat that measures how valuable a players demeanor is to a team? I’m just trying to get Borges on the stat sheet somehow cause goals and assists just aren’t doing it.

3 Johnny (+1) - Game one may have gone differently had Johnny burried a few more of his chances in the slot like he usually does. But his heads up play to beat nick to the net for the game winner saved the day on a game that was slipping away from the white team.

2 Brett (-1) - Game one was rough for him with the blatant non hooking call getting in his head and missing high on 2 open nets. Game 2 was a different story tho. His ability to rise above Nicks ok to good defense and even above Dave’s great goaltending should serve as a reminder for Jared to not poke the bear. (No need for a link. I guarantee you all read that in jack edwards voice)

1 Dave (+1) - Should be penalized for making 2 games last 2 hours. But I can’t remember the last time a goalie made so many saves in a night.

Honorable Mention: Griff - Every time he went down to make a save he got back up. Eventually.

Billy T - Not an honorable Mention. Just a regular Mention. You played well beside JB. There’s just so much more to say on Brendon every week.

No Subs, No Joe, No Offense, No Shirt, No Shoes, No Problem. The Dark team dominated -- DOMINATED! that first game. Or maybe they just squeaked by...I can't remember - it's all a blur now...either way. Game one was over and they learned a valuable lesson: Never underestimate your opponent.

It was like that time when we played Prince and the Revolution. Shirts against the Blouses! Ha! You know where you got those shirts -- and it sure wasn't the Men's department! But just then -- something strange happened -- a crazed look came over Brett's face and he started to call his shots. I was sweating bullets...needed a drink... 'Why don't you purify yourself in the waters of lake Minnetonka?' he yelled as he passed to Johnny for the Game Winner.

Game. Blouses.

No comments:
I just booked the rink. I had to call back today because Paul was unable to look up the info yesterday and he tells me that the rink is more popular on Saturdays so the only time slot available was 7-9. So I grabbed it. Let us know if this is a problem for anyone. It’s just an hour difference so I doubt it will be.

"I Played In High School"

10 Jason - Some people don’t realize just how big Jason’s hips are. They sneak up on you when you try to go around him.

9 Billy T - Played well in the first 2 games and even had a pretty end to end play. But in game three he started to show flashes of what he was last week. I don't even want to think of what he would've looked like if we played a forth game, which by the way, hasn't happened in a long time.

8 Brendon (E) - Actually did well switching between defense and wing. Something ward couldn’t handle last week.

7 Jared - Don’t want to put him too high; not sure if this weeks output was a fluke or not. But 5 goals in a game is always an accomplishment. And he was only able to accomplish that feat by humbly trading himself to the other team for the greater good.

6 JB (-1) - “We’re all here to have fun”! If anyone else said those words they would’ve been ridiculed to no end. I put this quote up there with “I just hope my stick doesn’t break”. Borges should be embarrassed. Not just for uttering those words but for not checking the site for WPR every week.

5 Nick (-1) - "I wanna play with Borges"(lots of quotes this week). I hope he had his fill. That was a debacle. Well except for game 3. That seemed pretty fun for them.

4 Johnny (-1) - Those long range goals are tough. I’m not joking either. The ball moves quite a bit. But nevertheless, they are heart breakers.

3 Ward (+3) - The one bright spot for white team.

2 Dave (E) - That one play where he stopped Brett’s first 7 shots before one finally squeaked through really encapsulated the first 2 games. He gave up more goals than Johnny but stats are for losers

1 Brett (E) - Speaking of losers, Brett loses because he’s good. Jared loves to hear people say “Brett’s the best” because that means his team gets better and he can keep firing in shots from 80 feet away. Instead of other players doing more to make the teams even, they keep taking from Brett. Instead of Nick focusing on defense with Papa Meat by his side, he rushes the ball and gives up on plays. Instead of Borges playing high in the slot and using his great shot to score on Johnny, he goes deep in the zone and can’t get back when demaio whips a blind pass to no one, or he just kicks the ball the other team. But apparently all the problems in Saugus get fixed if Brett pays more attention to when the other teams players sub.

Honorable Mention: Mini Meat - I’m not sure if he’ll ever be considered a skill player. Actually I’m sure he won’t. But that back check on Jared was pretty good to see. You can’t get mad at players when the don’t do something they aren’t capable of doing. But everyone can hustle and Pete is starting to be consistent in that area.

Welp, Jared sure got his revenge for last week. The only player with three wins. Everyone raise your hand if you had a few plays you would like back from yesterday's game. It was kinda ugly, at times....or maybe just the whole two hours...Just call me Mr. Butterfingers...

No One Ever Forgets Their First

10 Pete the 🥩- His first goal was unspectacular and possibly unintentional. But it is what it is. Him and Jared had the same amount of goals. More than any other part of his game, I’d like to see him work on his face-off dropping ability.

9 Jack - Played as expected.

8 Brendon (+1) - Grading on a curve of course, Brendon played great along side Nick. He seemed to simplify his game; suppressing his inclination to try and trick the dark players. Bottom line is he’s coachable. Just go and watch the flashback if you don’t believe me.

7 Andrew (-4) - Played well enough. Unfortunately his 3 goals, which are usually plenty from someone on defense, weren’t enough.

6 Ward - How can you expect ward to get in a groove when you keep moving him from center to wing to defense back to center? Give him a position and leave him there and he’ll be fine, as long as it’s not defense or center.

5 JB (-4) - Zack Morris method has worked fairly well so far thanks to Borges. But his “do as I say not as I do” method didn’t work quite so well. You can’t tell billy “nothing gets behind us” (exact quote) and then try and step up to keep a 50/50 ball in against Brett 5 seconds later.

4 Nick (E) - If he ever retires again, he may want to think about coaching. Moving Brett to left to help Brendon......Belichekian.

3 Johnny (+4) - Dare I say he was better on face offs than Borges all night. He ruined Brett’s bid at a 5 goal game.

2 Dave (+4) - There were long stretches where the white team was gassed and unable to get back on defense and where Pete was at the bench trying to recover from a ball that grazed his thigh leaving Dave to make some heroic stops.

1 Brett (+1) - I would love to see the team difficulty rating from Sunday. All this talk of how white team was expected to win is a load. Especially when the player who was able to choose what team he wanted says it. If a team loses with the better goalie, it’s because he had an off night. If a team loses with the lesser goalie, well of course, they had no chance. Brett was able to identify the weak link on the dark team and attack attack attack. I’m surprised dark team didn’t try the same thing seeing as it was 5 against 3.5 all night.

Honorable Mention - Billy T: He has a Moe’s hooded sweatshirt. And nothing he did Sunday can take that away.

It's Everyone's Net Dave

10 Jared (-7) - Jared was the first to hurl insults at Brett and question his integrity, heart and compete level when he quit on his team last year. All well deserved. And then he goes and does the same thing. Jared was embarrassing this past week in behavior and in production. Talk about packing it in at the first sign of adversity. Maybe your teammates could hear your constructive criticisms better if you came back over center ice to tell them.

9 Frendon - Demoted himself to offense? Frendon’s goal in game three was a bad look for Johnny and an even worse look for the white team for putting him on D in the first place.

8 Jason (+2) - He hustled. He knows how to play and I figure the captains will soon figure that out and maybe bump him up from bottom tier player to slightly above bottom tier player.

7 Johnny (-3) - He gets the best of Dave most weeks while shooting on him from 20 feet and even gets the best of him 200 feet away this week. His workload increased from one game to the next; from 4 saves in game 1 to 9 saves in game 3.

6 Dave (+1) - Dave played well with some nice saves in game 1 but seemed to have trouble with Borges shot more than anyone else’s. Maybe that’s why Brendon was laying down in the net; Borges had the ball. Now his decision makes sense.

5 Reggie (+4) - Reggie didn’t care that his insulin expansion pack was on empty, he kept playing good defense and only had one failed Hail Mary pass.

4 Nick (+4) - This is a sympathy ranking more than anything else. Played center. They must have pulled positions from a hat.

3 Drew - Probably should’ve been on the rankings last week if this ranking system had any semblance of respectability. He’s sneaky good at jumping up into the play as long as he has a winger that will recognize when he does. In other words anyone but Brendon at wing.

2 Brett (E) - Passed a little too much in game 1. Maybe his 7 goals will make others respect his shot more. That game winner was a snipe. It’s his commitment to defense that makes him most valuable.

1 Borges (+4) - Was a steady force the whole night. While Brett was flaming out in game 3, Borges elevated his play with 2 bullets to Dave’s low glove. Same exact spot each time. And did you see him chase down Jared? Might even be faster than Jared. Everyone say it with me: “Deceptively quick”

Honorable Mention: Iggy- Actually would’ve moved up a spot this week to 12 but there’s only 10 spots this week. So did he actually move up....?

WEEKLY POWER RANKINGS

This is What Saugus Can and Should Be

13 Iggy - Performed almost as well as his fantasy football team did this week.

12 Mike Meadows - Dropped the first S bomb of the season 47 seconds into game 1. Not sure if he was the difference maker in the game 2 trade or Ward.

11 Elliot - Borges blames Brett for the loses in the last two game. I blame Elliot for his Inability to get the ball out of the zone in 23 tries.

10 Jason - I swear he’s always on the cusp of a brutal turnover when he has the ball. But more times than not he throws that thing on net for an easy save. I’ll take it.

9 Reggie - Why can’t he play like that in the HC? Although he did start standing still in game 3.

8 Nick - Looked a little rusty his first game back from retirement.

7 Dave - Seemed to concede a loss in game 1. Played better in the last 2 games. Covered the ball a lot less than I thought he would.......

6 Andrew - Getting more sound on defense. He needs to stop wearing a mouth guard if he wants to take his game to the next level. Only the king can wear a mouth guard and play well

5 Borges - The only blemish was letting Jared get by him. Maybe he assumed the best goalie that’s ever played in Saugus in Jared’s opinion was gonna make the stop. Either way he redeemed himself with that beautiful pass to send Brett in alone.

4 Johnny - “Were trading Elliot for Johnny?!?! That’s a downgrade!!” We’ve been playing in Saugus for 10+ years and people still refuse to admit the simple and obvious truth. There ain’t no such thing as trading down for the king. And it rhymes.

3 Jared - Now that he’s been banned from ever being captain, he can focus on improving the defensive aspect of his game. What a load off. You’ll come to understand how nice it is to never be blamed for lopsided teams.

2 Brett - Being the worst person in the world isn’t that bad. Brett loves refusing to be captain which leads to him being first pick and in turn on a better team. Although that’s with Jared being the other captain. So it’s hard to tell if it’s Brett’s strategy that’s paying off, or just “the Jared Factor”. Keep in mind that Jared does the same thing just in a more whining, crying, stomp his feet kind of way to get the better team. Jared still keeps the most hated player in Saugus title for now. But Brett’s nipping at his heels.

1 Ward - He did what no one else will ever do this year. Score the first goal of the season.

Honorable Mention: Jamie - Jared seems to think Jamie was pretty good, which must mean he believes Jamie had something to do with demaio shooting the ball completely wide on an open net. Jamie was confusing players all night by giving them half the net to shoot at, making the shooter think “it can’t be this easy. I have to pick a corner.” And end up ringing it off the post. At some point during warmups, he forgot that his hips and knees still have the ability to bend and for most of the night did the exact opposite of Dave. His desperation saves should have been neither desperate nor a save.

Yes, I am holding up three fingers, but have only won two HC. I was holding up three fingers because that's how many points I had.

... Actually, it was a 'W' for Wu-Tang Clan
... Actually it was a 'W' for Charlie Sheen's 'Winning'
... It's entirely possible that I held up one finger at the start, then put out two, then three, and if he kept taking pictures might have gotten up to four and finally just been waving at him.
... I'm going to blame the drone for injuring my fingers and they just stuck that way. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Haverhill Cup Recap
===================

So this was the last game for Nick. Like, ever. He's done. I spoke to him, and this was supposed to be his Swan Song. For Nick, though, it turned out to be more like Brian's Song.
Ok, maybe not THAT grim. I mean, he's not dying or anything. But his hockey career is dead. But remember that line from that movie? (You've all seen it, right?)
At the end, the narrator says that Brian died at age 26 and is remembered as he lived, rather than how he died. So we want to honor Nick's memory and dedicate this Haverhill Cup to his memory.
Maybe we will rename it the Burton Memorial Cup. Kinda has a nice ring to it, doesn't it? It already has his picture on it.
I mean, that is, UNLESS the unthinkable should happen and he came OUT of retirement at some point...I mean, we can't honor anyone who is still PLAYING, right?
Well forget it, because there's no chance of that anyway. He's done. Finished. Where was I? I think I was supposed to be writing a recap of the HC and went off on a tangent...On we go...

The sea was angry that day my friends...like an old man trying to send soup back in a Deli...sorry, there I go again...
For those of you who didn't know this: The regular season means nothing. NOTHING. It's practice. Get all cocky and start thinking you're gonna be flying high scoring left and right and... BAM! Playoffs happen and people actually start TRYING.
Whoops. Some of you forgot that.

Now, you really can't fault Mike ward's team. They battled as noble as anyone ever has without a sub (has that ever happened in the HC before?) and that wasn't their fault...well, it MIGHT have been Ward's fault for drafting a senior citizen...even if he is a fantastic senior...
He shoulda known that Ron was going to injure his back picking up Anvils. I mean, that's a really risky thing to try right before the Cup, don't you think? Well, they did their best, but in the end, the lack of a sub really cost them. Ron's HC value just plummeted in future Auction Drafts for reliability.

Nick's team was all steak and no sizzle. And I mean that literally. I think I saw griff gnawing on a porterhouse in between games for energy...might have been a ribeye...no, wait... a porterhouse serves two. That's what it was.
They went winless in the regular season but you know what? No one cared. As I said, that means nothing and I know I wasn't the only one who wasn't looking forward to getting pinballed between Reggie and Skippy for 14 minutes.
But they just couldn't win when it counted, and time wasn't even a factor, either. Because it all came down to Shoot-out skills, and I'm not one to talk, but they let Elliott single-handledly beat them twice. Ouch. This one's gonna sting for a while. Like a week.

JB's team was all sizzle but no steak. (Is that a saying? It is now.) Gotta put some meat on them bones, kids. You can't get out-muscled in the HC or you're gonna pay. We always said that children were useless in the HC, but not because they don't have any skills.
The rink is smaller, less room to run, more contact, harder to get a speed game going when the defense pretty much never leaves the zone, it's a crapshoot. The Prater boys combined for an impressive 27 points throughout the HC, but managed only 3 combined in the final game.
That's not going to get it done when your opponents score six goals. Don't get me wrong, losing Billy towards the end was a huge blow for team JB, but had they built up a sizable lead, it may not have been a death blow losing him, what with the kids' infinite energy and all...
But alas, JB has yet to get his name etched onto that Glorious Cup. There's always next year...When you're a year older, fatter, and slower, like the rest of us. :-D

And of course, I would be remiss if I did not mention the winning team, Team TPJ. Jared got the most out of his team. There was no yelling, no arguing, no crying, no spam, no shirt, no shoes, no service. And they pulled it off.
Largely thanks to Brett standing on his head; he kept opponents to a paltry 2.0 GAA (Is this a HC record?? Seems like it could be...) Meanwhile Jared and Johnny were sniping left and right and no lead was safe from them.
Give JB's team some credit. They kept it close until it was 3-3, and then the floodgates opened. Jason showed that even a $1 pick can be a bargain in the HC as he spanked the children and boxed out opponents like Shaq fighting for a cheeseburger falling from the sky.
It was a team effort. Play as a team. Lose as a team. Win as a team. Celebrate as a team for a whole year. Props to Jared for not taking the bait and switching up his team even though it was tempting. He made the right choice. Just like Sophie. Actually it was nothing like that movie. Forget that. How about another movie? I'll go with Rocky IV and in the words of the Godfather of Soul: "I feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeel good!"

2018 Haverhill Cup Rules and Schedule

8 comments:
The 7th HC is less than 24 hours away and it’s only fitting to post the rules and schedule as if something has changed from all the previous Haverhill Cups.

-Games will be 14 minutes long consisting of two 7 minutes halves with a 1 minute intermission.
-Games ending in a tie will go to a shootout in which every player has to participate in (goalies optional) if it goes past 3 rounds. Keeping the order in which players took their turn.
-All penalties, tripping, hooking, a one handed nick type slash, arguing, complaining, high-sticking(faces and ball and hockey balls) will result in a penalty shot. 2 penalties in one game will result in loss of player for rest of game. A penalty that draws blood results in 2 penalties and ejection from game.
- Seems to be some confusion on this next rule. Only a player drafted as a goalie can put on Goalie pads unless there’s an injury.  A teams goalie can play out or run around playing out with goalie pads on and using a player stick if he so desires.
- A goalie can not cover the ball behind the net while out of his crease. If he does he will receive a warning first and then Penalized. It’s a good strategy in Montreal, but it’s not fun in the HC.
- After scoring a goal a team must clear to center ice
- If a ball gets stuck in the fence, it’s first person there. If the ball goes out of playoff one team, it’s the other teams ball

The start time is still 1 o’clock.

1:00 First whole team there vs second whole team there
1:15 Third team there vs 4th team there
1:30 2nd team vs 3rd team
1:45 1st team vs 4th team
2:00 4th team vs 2nd team
2:15 1st team vs 3rd team

Playoffs

2:45 2nd seed vs 3rd seed
3:00 1st vs 4th
3:15 2nd vs 3rd
3:30 1st vs 4th
3:45* 2nd vs 3rd
4:00* 1st vs 4th

Finals

Haverhill Cup Draft Recap

5 comments:
This is 100% from memory and last night was a bit of a blur, so if I messed this up and got some people on the wrong
Teams it probably doesn't matter anyway because we will have five more redrafts (at least) this week.
Probably all done through group messages while people are at work, too.

Team JB
Billy T
Dave (g)
2 children

Team Retired
Jack (g)
Skippy
Griff
Sugar Ray Leonard

Team (Hospital) Ward
Old man Ron
Mike D
Billy D
Steve (g)

Team TPJ
Brett (g/winger)
Frendon (seriously, how was that name already taken in HQ? Looks like it wasn't as original as people thought...)
Jason
The King

-----

As for initial analysis:

JB has two children on his team and we all know that all children are useless all the time (in the Haverhill Cup)
Maybe they're not technically children anymore, but for all intents and purposes...

Nick is retired so not sure how that works. I guess he coaches and they play with no sub. Oh, and no goaltending, probably.
Reggie better bring his insulin expansion pack or something. (I don't know what I'm talking about)

Mike W feels like he stole that draft but what he doesn't know is that Steve will end up being a no-show and
they will end up throwing Mike D in net and tossing him one piece of equipment at a time in between goals.
Sounds like fun.

Jared got over-zealous and went all-in on Brett and locked up the King for 58% of his budget (maybe. I'm making that number up)
After Jason and I quit on him and Johnnys back gives out, it will be up to Brett to pitch a shutout while Jared scores all by himself (as usual).

Still, Jareds team has a "fighting" chance. We all have different definitions of that word though.
Vegas oddsmakers have Wards team the favorite at a 5% chance to win. Somehow no team has better odds that that.
I think the suckers bet is that we all just retire like Nick and go out for beers after and forget that we never crowned a champion.

Pouting is Such Sweet Sorrow

6 comments:

Since Nick is officially retired, it looks like the job of writing recaps will now fall to someone else. (Hey, I'm "someone else!")
Not that Nick actaully ever wrote any recaps...at least not any that I can think of...moving on...

This week's recap will be fact-or-fiction style! On we go!

For those of us who were there last night, we know what the real facts were and we will also know what the fictitious parts are.
But for those that were sadly missing, they'll never know, so that's just too bad...

One a night that was free from agressive slashing, name-calling, and (coincidentally) also missing Griff, we found out what were missing, with Nick being out of the lineup: Fun.

With no one to trip him up, Jared scored a record-high 25 points last night in the six total games we played. It was all offense. Four unassisted goals in the first two games alone. Breakaway after breakaway...

Amazingly, Pete the Meat scored a hat trick in the first game and followed it up with a three-assist second game, too.

Billy scored a blazing game-winner on a 3-on-3 lineup when the game was called into overtime.

Johnny started off hot and then cooled down as his back gave out on him. But he rallied to lead the team to the game 6 win, giving the white team the victory.

Jason was tripped up on a breakaway, but he got up, shook hands with the person that tripped him, and maturely controlled his temper and forgave him for the obvious mistake.

Oh, and Jared was whining even though he scored a lot, again.

Brett stood on his head for parts of game 2, shutting down would-be threats on wide open across-the-crease passes, but then, he had enough and wanted in on the action, so he grabbed Billy's stick out of his hands and charged up the court in full goalie gear, juked everyone and scored on Dave in an unprecedented play!

Johnny had a play in game 2 where he popped it up and Frendon reached out across the crease and picked it out of mid-air and over Dave's shoulder (but below the crossbar, yes, below).

Jason made an extremely sweet pass across the crease to a wide-open Johnny who buried it. Looked like Bergeron to Marchand. Jason also followed that up with back-to-back goals in game 2. Impressive.

Ward made some plays of his own, including some stellar defensive rushes where he jumped up on O and scored back-to-back unassisted goals. What a night for offense!

Oh, and Jared whined some more. (I'll bet you think that this part is fiction, don't you?)

All in all it was a great night. Too bad some people had more important things to do. Oh well, there's always the Haver....Nevermind.

P.S. No hockey next week.

Jared's List Grows

Combined 1 legit Goal

That should have been the story coming out of Saturday.

The story should have been about the underdog Cinderella white team

We should have been talking about how Brett played great in goal

I wish we were talking about how the game winner in game one was scored because a winger lost track of his defensive responsibility

Id much rather be recapping about Jared’s lack of subbing. Jason payed just as much you.

Borges scoring 4 goals was kind of interesting I guess.

We could be talking about Griff’s Haverhill Cup stock. Billy or Griff? What a debate we could be having.

Instead its all about the drama.

Its all about Jared, in a play he wasn’t even involved in. Not that he was involved in many plays, he didn’t score all day.

Jared got zero goals.

The reality is the entire reason that goal was held up was because of that frustration.

That and I probably hit him in the foot a couple times over the last 10 years.

The two hand slash really wasn’t a big deal.  Honestly, whatever.
The issue was the defense and the pushing for the goal to be held up. That was insanity. I still cant wrap my head around it. It was indefensible.

I came away yesterday feeling that people don’t want to play against me. They think Im dirty. That Im a hack. And Im uncontrolled with my stick sweep. If you don’t know what Im talking about just ask Jared for an accurate demonstration. It looks spot on. He really is the next Frank Caliendo.

I dont want to be that guy. I don’t want to be dirty. I don’t want to be a hack. But Im definitely not going to change. A leopard can't change spots and all that crap.

It leaves me one choice. Im retiring from Saugus. People are clearly uncomfortable playing with me. Which has made me uncomfortable.

I had a good run but its now over. The 42 goal season in 2009 will always be suspicious.

Boxscore for 3/11/18

14 comments:

I forget how we are counting the unfinished games. John might do things differently than me. I put them in as points for each player but do not raise the games played, giving players a slight boost on points per game.

Similarly, I put the goals against each goalie without raising the games played, giving them a slightly worse GAA. But since everything is the same for everyone, it shouldn't really affect the numbers too much across the board, when you do comparisons.

So for last Sunday, we had 2 total games played and one unfinished game with a score of 4-1. I'm sure John will do something different when he enters them into his DB, but that won't be until 2042 and by then, we will have all forgotten that we even used to play hockey, so it's a moot point.

Switching gears.......Nor'Easter. Maybe one or more of you guys have a day off? Who feels like writing a recap? Somebody should do that once in a while. This website name is a farce. On we go...

Hockey this week?

6 comments:
So, we have the AFC Championship game from 3-7pm on Sunday, and then there's the trophy presentation after that...
And then there's the NFC Championship game, which, when the Pats win (and they should), people are going to want to watch that game to see who we're playing in the SB.

The week after that is the BYE, and then it's the SB, so my guess is we won't get a huge amount of people who are willing to play on Sunday, or SB Sunday, but the week in between, definitely, I'm sure we will play.

This Saturday is a possibility, but we will need two goalies and enough guys. And I don't know if most people already made plans on Sat so it's probably best just to poll everyone and see if it's going to happen or else we just skip this week.
